Hangs My Head In Shame

Wow, have I been a slacker!!!  The holidays came and went so fast, that they are a blur.  I’ve been in heaven spending all the holidays with my son and his family.  It’s been pretty cool!!  Not that I don’t miss my friends, because I really do miss my friends in Nevada, however, being 15 years without my kids, being near one of them is a huge blessing!  I think out of those 15 years, there were maybe 2 or 3 years we were able to be with the kids.

I hope you all had a safe and Happy New Year!!  Even though New Year’s Eve is our anniversary, we always stay home on that crazy night.

I’ve become addicted to Safari Live on Wild Earth online.m  This will probably be the closest I’ll ever get to a Live Safari.  With them on a live drive and a camera, I feel like I’m sitting on the back of a Land Rover.  But, not only is it live and you can hear the guide, but it’s also interactive.  You can ask them a question through twitter or email.  There have been so many animals in their natural habitat, doing their thing, even if it is killing another animal for food.  But even the gruesome is interesting.  If you are interested in checking it out go to http://www.ustream.tv/channel/wildearth-safaris   OR   http://www.wildearth.tv/cam/wildearth-safaris    The live safaris are daily, 8am – 11am central time and 9pm – 12pm central time.  There is a YouTube channel that you can watch the live safaris, but I have to access it through my twitter notification.  In between they usually have the live cam on the Djuma dam, so you can also see animals at the dam when the live safaris are not on.  These safaris are in the Djuma & Arathusa Game Reserves.  Which is a small portion of the Kruger National Park in South Africa.  It’s pretty cool.

Anyways, I hope you all had a great New Year and that this year brings wonderful things for you!!!

Sorry I’ve been so lax on the postings.  I haven’t had any motivation to write … anything.  But a friend, S4L, reminded me today that I should write again and that if I wait for motivation, I won’t write again.  You know what, she’s right, so here I write … lol

Life in the flat lands has been fine.  It’s starting to warm up and feeling springy.  It wasn’t much of a winter, which I’m thankful for, however, it doesn’t help with the dry conditions.  There have already been several wild fires, which is strange.  When we lived here before, it was so moist out, there were no wild fires.  Weird to come back to a dry Midwest.  It will be interesting to see what the summer will be like, however, I can wait to see that and just enjoy the temps that are now.

On St. Patrick’s day, we picked up our grandkids from school in our green van.  My hubby had a tee shirt with a green plaid vest & bow tie screen printed on it, in addition to wearing a green bow tie.  I had on a green sweatshirt with green shamrock clips in my hair and green beads.  Our grandson made it to the van first and said, “Whoa, that’s a lot of green you’re wearing!”  As our granddaughter was tied up and taking longer, hubby got out of the van to wait for her.  The car behind us saw him and started laughing at the getup.  She finally arrived and tried not to react.  Darn, she’s getting to that age where she tries to not react to the crazy things we do.  I guess we’ll have to try harder!!

My oldest sister has me hooked on National Geographic’s Live Wild Safari, which is online twice a day, morning and night drive.  You can only watch it online through the live feed.  As I won’t ever physically be able to go to So. Africa to go on safari, it is so much fun to watch, when I can and when there is no problem with the feed, the wild animals they come in contact with.

There have been several leopards they follow.  They are such beautiful kitties!  One has quite the personality, while the other that is the same age, just ignores the vehicle & camera.  They walk right next to the vehicle and just look at the guide.  The one with the personality actually charged the vehicle and stopped close, just because he could.  It even looked like he was chuckling after he did it.

Today they went to the hyena den and found the mom and three cubs.  It was late afternoon there and starting to get dark.  The mom was getting ready to hunt, leaving the cubs at the den.  The guide said they were going to leave the cubs as they didn’t want to call any predators attention to the cubs while mom was gone.  They were so cute.  Before mom left, one of the babies walked right up to the vehicle and looked at the camera.

One never knows what will happen on each drive.  If interested, the live feed is from 10am – 1pm Eastern time and 12am – 3am Eastern time, everyday.    It is quite fun as you can interact with the driver/guide through twitter or email.  Click here if you’d like to check it out.  During off hours, they run a loop of what is seen on that day’s drive.

Watching these animals and how they survive as part of the food chain, I’m reminded of a passage I read this morning:  Matthew 6:25-34 – Do not worry.

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

We humans are much more valuable to God than any bird or animal.  If we truly follow Christ and have Jesus in our hearts, there is no reason to worry about anything as He provides.  The question is, can you surrender and wait in faith for His provision?

R.I.P. Lauren Bacall

Another one gone.  She’s lived a long life and such a statuesque lady.  We love watching her movies!  R.I.P. Mz. Bacall.   Bogie and Bacall now together again

I went to Van Gogh and Vino with my friends.  It was so much fun, especially since I have never painted before.  You can check out their website here.  If you have one or something like it near you – GO!!

The night before last, I couldn’t sleep.  I think I had about an hour of sleep that night.  As I lay awake at 3am, I finally took a sleeping pill.  I try not to take one too often as I don’t want my body to get used to it.  Anyway, at 5am, I took a night night pill.  I didn’t wake up until 2pm.  YAY, Praise the Lord I had sleep!!  Last night I slept about 6 hours.  without a pill.  I’ll take it!!  I’ve been up since 5:45am, but that’s okay.  It gave me time to have coffee with my Lord God and work on my devotionals.  It was nice and quiet.   I had quite a bit to journal about, unbeknownst to me!

Not much else going on.  Getting ready to start the ribs for our gathering at a friends house.  It’s so fun to be able to gather.  I hope her hubby isn’t too tired as he gets home today.

Y’all have a great wonder-filled week!!

Excuse You!

I’ve been wanting to blog about this, but had to wait a few days to keep from ranting.  But with waiting, more things happen and now I have 3 posts to do today.

So this one, “Excuse You!”  –  Do you go into a grocery store or any store for that matter and you are reaching for something and someone comes from the side and grabs something right in front of you?  I wanted to say, “Excuse You!”   But what came out was, “Sorry, Excuse me.”

Excuse me???   I already was grabbing something on the top shelf and someone invades my space like that?  WOW!  What happened to the common courtesy?  What happened to manners?  What happened to people being polite?   Oh. My. Gosh.  People … If I were to do that to you, you would be all upset.

Yes, I wait until someone is done in the dairy case that I need.  But when they pull something out to read the back, then I will say, “Excuse Me” and they move aside so I can grab what I want.  That’s all it takes.  Not shoving them aside to open the door and grab it.

People, People, People – where are your manners?  Use them, you will be amazed how different you will be treated!!

It’s All Good

Today is my boy’s 33rd birthday.  How is that possible?  Yes, that is my baby and he’s 33!!!   *sigh*  All 3 of my kids are in their 30’s.  yikes!!  But it’s all good!   LOL I’m finding I’m more tired each day.  I seem to do less and less things each day as I tire easily.  Plus the fact that I’m here alone 3 days a week, so I don’t have any motivation.  That is due to change in a week.  We are sitting Stomper for 2 weeks.  So I’m excited!!

It’s almost August … how much packing have I done – ZERO.  I’m in overwhelmed mode, but I need to kick my but in gear and start working on it!! It’s monsoon season right now.  Threats of rain and rain and rain.  Threats … Out of the last couple of weeks, it only really rained hard once.  But, there are times I miss the blue sky.  I also miss using the swamp cooler for our cooling system, as once it is a little humid, the swamp cooler doesn’t work.  Although the sunsets are quite beautiful!!

Hubby’s going to work on my bike this week – I hope!  So at least I’ll be able to ride around the block or 2, each day.  Everyone asks if I can balance on a bike …. I guess we’ll find out.  Thankfully I can touch the ground while sitting on the seat.

I’m debating doing a bible study on Monday night.  Would that be too much for me or do I need to do a study before we move?  It is Beth Moore’s Esther.  I’m thinking about it.  I need to check with hubby to see if he’s going to work at the church Monday night or if I will need a ride to and from.  We’ll see.

So, here we are, Tuesday morning.  I’m doing my daily load of laundry.   LOL – how is it possible that we generate a load of laundry each day?  I don’t understand!!  I can honestly say that it’s my hubby as I only wear a house dress, as my skin is so sensitive. A couple of weeks ago, hubby and I went to Sand Harbor, Lake Tahoe.  We’ve been here 14 years and have not put our feet in the lake.  Well, except that one time when we were at Memorial Point and I dropped the keys among the boulders into the Lake.  He was showing me around the lake as we had just moved here.  Yeah, he had to take off his clothes and belt and all (he kept his pants on … as he says, he had to go quick so they didn’t signal that a whale has beached!), go into the lake, which was chest high and then bend over to pick up the keys that were, “Just there, I can see them!!”   I kept saying.  Yes, there are times he married a platinum blonde!  Oh wait, I am …. LOL … well, a platinum blonde salt & pepper one!!

Anyway, a couple of Fridays ago, we went to the lake and hung out for a couple of hours.  It was fun and we need to go back many times before we leave.  After that we went home and got ready to go to the Reno Ace’s Ballgame.  We sat on the first base line and I LOVED it!!  We were so close to the action and you get sucked into the game, all the fun stuff going on and have a really good time.  Yes, that we’ll have to do again … but it needs to be done by August.  We’ll see.

So that’s what has been going on in my world … how is yours?

Happy Independence Day

July 4th – wow – where is this year going?

What are your plans for the day?  As we live in a small town, the park 2 blocks from our house is having a big celebration.  Hubby is home today, which is a rarity.  He usually has to work on the 4th.  So we may wonder down to the park and check it out.  Maybe, just maybe, stop at our neighbor’s house across from the park and hang out with them.  I like walking and not driving on this day!

Have a Happy and Safe Holiday!!!

Another Month Gone

It has been a wild month.  Between being sick on and off, mostly on, and the events going on at church, I’ve had enough energy to get through work and go home to bed.

Our church hosted a Comedy Night with Nazareth.  He’s pretty funny!  Then he did the weekend teaching at church.  The following weekend was the Love & Respect Conference and over 100 people went through this conference.  It was great to hear how many couples reconnected in their relationships.  This weekend is the church’s 15th birthday.  Amazing – donuts and T-shirts is in store for this weekend.  After that, next Friday is our Thanks to You Volunteer Appreciation.  We are celebrating what God has done in our church through our volunteers.  I’m tired just typing this, hah!  We have a break and then the Easter Preparations begin.  Yup, we are rockin’ and rollin’ and lovin’ every minute, even though it’s exhausting!

For Valentines Day, hubby went out at bought me the last ticket for this concert.  I am so excited to go on a girl’s night out with a bunch of incredible ladies.  Thanks S4L for letting me know about this.  I know the flyer says it’s in California, however, the tour will be in Reno on Saturday 2/16/13 night.  I am so excited to just have a night off and doing something other than thinking about how behind I am at work!!

Mind you, hubby going out to purchase this ticket was no easy feat as he is still sick.  He’s now on his 4th round, 3rd different, antibiotics as his  lungs keep having bronchial spasms when he gets in the cold air and can’t breathe as well as having a sinus infection.  So I am very grateful and appreciate the effort that it took for him to did that!

I’m also on another round of antibiotics – but at least I am able to go to work and function.  I’m feeling way better and left work early today so I could come home and rest to be ready for fun tomorrow night.

Plus I’m excited that we have Monday off for President’s Day.  Yes, an extra day off to recoup and shop.  I need to find something to wear to Thanks to You.

So that’s my crazy world – I’m still hanging in and loving’ my church.

Y’all have a great 3 day weekend!!!
