YAY!!

Yesterday went almost as planned.  Unfortunately when I woke up I wasn’t feeling well.  I had congestion in my vocal chords and was worried it was heading for my chest.  I wasn’t sure if it was real or from all the drops I have to use, so driving to the surgical center I was praying I didn’t have a fever and the surgery could go on.  Also while driving, I decided to call our doc to see if we could get in that afternoon.

Got to the surgical center and even though I felt warm, my temperature was fine and the surgery went on as planned.  After I left the center, we went to Five Guys to try their burgers.  I have mixed feelings about Five Guys.  It’s new to our area so it’s busy.  But, not only that, it is LOUD.  Oh my word it was so loud with the music and voices echoing off the walls.  I wasn’t impressed with the atmosphere.  The burger, even though you can get almost anything you want, even A-1 sauce, which made hubby happy, but they don’t have avocados.  I ordered the little burger which is 1 patty.  Hubby had the regular burger, which was 2 patties.  We both ordered with the grilled onions & mushrooms and shared the small fries.  The one thing I liked about the fries is the bottles of malted vinegar I could put in a dipping cup for my fries in!  The hamburger was huge & good, but I’ve had better.  The free peanuts are a plus.  The best thing is the soda machine!!  I had a Vanilla Coke Zero.  If I could have seen, I would have also pressed cherry to my mix of soda.  I’ll have to go back with my readers, just so I can read the soda machine.

It will be interesting to see if Five Guys quality will remain.  I like In & Out, but when it first opened in our area, the burgers didn’t taste the same as other In & Outs.  I figured it was due to the grill not being seasoned yet.  Unfortunately the burgers haven’t matched other In & Out’s taste.  Don’t know why.  I used to love Johnny Rockets, but … I loved them when they opened, but they don’t taste the same.  Now mind you, I’m talking about these restaurants that our in my area only!!  I just love a really good burger – I guess I’m still on the good burger quest.

We did manage to get to our doc’s office and are both on antibiotics, because he didn’t want us getting worse over the weekend/holidays.  I’m glad I’m home today and don’t have to go anywhere all weekend, so I can rest and heal!

Grateful

I am so grateful for the special people in my life.  God is so faithful and He uses His people to help when one is at a loss.  So thank you so very much!!

Today is the day for my right eye cataract surgery.  I have to be there by 10:20am.  I’m nervous, anxious and hungry!!  I’m hanging on to my Savior for peace and calmness as I wait for the time to leave.   I was able to take my blood pressure medication with just a sip of water, it was hard to keep from drinking more.

Well, I’ll talk to y’all later.

Wow, it’s really November?

I’ve been pretty scarce lately.  I apologize for that, I just haven’t had a chance to sit down and write about my last 4 months.

As you know in July I had eye surgery.  It went real well and it took 3 months for my eye to stable out.  The doc said that my eye sight would change over 3 months.  And it did, I was finally released by the surgeon at the beginning of October.  I just saw my regular eye doctor and he is able to correct my eye sight to 20/30.  I’m excited, the doc not so much!  I guess my cataracts have grown, especially in my surgical eye.  So I guess that is my next endeavor … cataract surgery.  I still have to recoup the cost of the last surgery.  But, we’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.

My son got married in September at Zion National Park. We had such a great time visiting with family.  Here is a picture of my beautiful children along with hubby and I.    I couldn’t find the one with hubby and I.  Actually I see it everyday as it is on my desktop, but I couldn’t get it to upload to WordPress.  Yes, I am a dork!!

It was so great to see my children and grandchildren.  They all have grown so much, but they are sure getting to be their own person.  HAH, children and grandchildren.  Also to be in such a beautiful area, Zion National Park.  I told hubby that I could live there.  It would be so cool!!!  Just saying!

Work has been busy, as September is the start of the ministry year.  With the business comes craziness but, a fun craziness.  Before my son’s wedding, he told me that he is in A-Fib and they had to shock his heart to get his sinus rhythm back .  Well, it didn’t work and the next step is a pacemaker.   So in October, he called to let me know that he was having his pacemaker put in on October 15th.  After my silent initial reaction, I called him the next day to see if he wanted me to come out.  After he and his new bride discussed it, I flew out to Lincoln on Saturday, 10/13.  He had his surgery on Monday, as scheduled and spent the night to make sure all was okay.  His dad and step-mom surprised him and showed up when he returned from recovery.  Ry went home the next day and he is getting better everyday.  By the time I left, he was driving and the seat belt wasn’t irritating his incision, well, not as much as it did in the beginning.  I had asked him the other day how he was feeling and he said great!  I didn’t get to see anyone while I was back in Nebraska, which I apologize for, because I stayed at the house and hung out with the new puppy, my son and his family.  I’m excited for them as they had just bought and moved into a home, before his surgery.  It’s a cute house and the furniture they got for it, transforms the rooms!  Sometimes, I wish I lived closer to all my kids … maybe one day, we’ll get to spend time traveling around to spend a little time with each one.

The Friday after I got home, I went with 2 buses full of ladies from our church to the Women of Faith Conference in Sacramento.  Wow, what an experience!  I had a great time.  So many uplifting speakers and great music.  If you are a female and this conference comes to an area near you, don’t hesitate to go!!  You won’t regret it.  We laughed, we cried, we sang, we were amazed, and in total awe of all that we saw and experienced!  I fell in love with my Savior all over again.  I’m hoping next year, I can get all my girls to go with me.  Now that would be cool, to get my daughters and daughter in law to go.  We’ll see.

In between all of this, I’ve been sick.  Three times on antibiotics and this last time was working.  That is until I felt so good and decided to rake the leaves in the front yard.  I was so exhausted that it was difficult to even lift my arms to put the piles in the hopper.  Once I finished, I was done.  I went to bed and stayed there.  Today I’m better … well, enough to go to work and then to the eye doc.  Now I’m ready for bed and it’s only 7:16pm.

Tomorrow is voting day.  I’ve already voted … but it’s exciting to see the commitment of people to go out there and vote.  We may or  may not agree on the candidates or the issues, but we are doing what this country is all about … democracy … making your choice known by voting.  Standing up for your beliefs.  Just remember, for those that are standing up for their beliefs and voting on their chosen candidate, that is exactly what the next person is doing.  That choice may be the same as yours, but it also may be different from yours, but we all are choosing to do what made us so privileged to live in the USA, voting for our choice.  It looks to be a close race and we’ve all done our part.  Whichever candidate wins, I pray that this candidate does what is best for our country.  Does what’s best for our citizens and get this country recovering from the huge debt, the unemployment, the foreclosures, etc.    So choose your candidate, but remember, the rest of that voting line will choose theirs.

And the waiting begins again …

I saw the surgeon yesterday and this is what I have:  Macular Hole and Macular Pucker … yeah, I couldn’t get just one thing, I had to have two things going on in my eye.  But that’s because my body is weird!  The links explain what it is and the treatment … if you really want to get grossed out,  do a search in You Tube, they have the actual surgery of an eye, repairing these things.  Yes, I was stupid enough to check out the surgery.  Not sure if it helped or not, but at least I know what to expect.

I can be awake for this or knocked out.  There are pros and cons to each, so that is something I need to think and pray about as well as talk to my general doc.  My surgery is schedule for July 10th in the morning, provided I get the okay from work.  I have my bouts with fear, but then I have waves of calm.   So the wait will be beneficial to get my mind in a good place.

After I received this great news, I did what normally calms me down and eat.  We went to Claim Jumper for lunch and on our way home we stopped at Dairy Queen and bought a Turtle Brownie Ice Cream Cake.  Yeah, I know, with my diabetes that isn’t one of the best things to eat, but it sure tasted good!

So that was my Friday.   I hope you all had a good Friday and enjoy the weekend!!

Lyrics in my head

I’ve had these lyrics in my head for about a week:

Tuesday afternoon is never ending

Wednesday morning papers didn’t come

Thursday night your stockings needed mending,  see how they run …

All together now – Lady Madonna, Children at your feet, wonder how you manage to make ends meet.

Well, it’s a party in my head … I wish there was a way to make this song play when you click on the blog … LOL

March 24th, really?  March is almost over?!  Oh man!

Has this happened to you?  Hah, oh wait, I need to tell you first!  Well, hubby has pain shooting into his hands.  The joints and his hands.  The joints I figured is arthur … you know, arthritis … I know this “itis” well, I call him arthur!  But in the top part of the hand, below the fingers to the middle of his hand, he has pain.  He hasn’t lost grip function, but it is painful for him and he drops things.   The joints of his fingers hurt, especialy his pinky and ring fingers along with his thumb.  I forgot and  gave his hand a squeese when I said goodbye before I left for work.  I thought he was going to cling to the ceiling.

The doc wants to have his hand X-rayed to see how much Arthur has taken over, but what other things are causing the excruciating pain?

I’ve looked at the reflexology map of the hand and the places that hurt are also the places on his body that have issues.  This is my thought, (scary, I know) is the pain in his back & shoulder, (that surgery only relieved a little), covering up something worse?  Where’s Dr. House when you need him!!  HAH … I guess I have some research to do so we can figure this out.

To quote Indiana Jones:  “It’s not the years, honey, it’s the mileage.”  Boy if that isn’t the truest statement ever!!

All of us put our bodies through so much when we were younger … sports, dancing, karate, gymnastics … anything extremely physical … because we were young and we could.  However … now that we are older, ugh, those injuries that seemed minor at the time, become such a major problem as we age.  I didn’t understand when my dad kept telling me to take care of my body.  Didn’t have a clue, although I was at that age, where I knew EVERYTHING!!  Boy, do I understand now!  I can look back and remember running and falling on the cement and getting up to run again and fall again as I laughed away the scrape.

Hubby carried 1 to 5 bags of coin on his shoulder when he worked for an armored car company.  Mind you, one bag of coin weighed 55-60 pounds, depending on the coin (dimes, nickels, quarters).  He did that daily for several years.  No wonder he’s had shoulder surgery on the shoulder that carried all that weight.

We think we are so invicible when we’re young.   How naive were we?

I’m gone for a couple of weeks and wordpress changes things, yet again.

October 1st, the start of the last quarter of the year.  What is up with this weather?  Is it hot where you are?    It sure is hot here.  Although I am thankful the evenings cool off.  Next week is supposed to be cooler, almost fall like weather.  That will be nice!

What happened to this week?  Before I knew it, Friday was here and here I am finally blogging.

Our trip to Utah was great!  We had a great time with the kids and grand babies and grand doggies.  I must confess, I lost the grand doggies the first morning we were there.  I let them out the back door.  In my brain I was seeing their old house with a fenced backyard, unfortunately, this house isn’t fenced.  The funny thing was the dogs even looked back at me as if saying, “Are you sure?” before they took off running the neighborhood.  I’m so thankful the kids live in a circular neighborhood and the dogs didn’t get to the main road.  After waking hubby up at 6:30 am our time (7:30 am Utah time), I found them on the other side of the circle, barking at the neighbors.  One of them came back and once the one did, the other finally followed.  By the time we got to the back of the circle, there was hubby waiting for us.   LOL … yuppers, what a way to start the first day there … lose their dogs.

Since we were up bright and early, hubby and I decided to go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast.  It is still as yummy as we remember.  Although there must be alot of sugar/carbs in the breakfast, because about 30 minutes after we ate, our blood sugar was dropping and we had to get a snack.    That night we had steak, macaroni & cheese and salad for dinner.

Friday I let hubby sleep in.  LOL … only because I knew he’d probably clobber me if I didn’t.  We got up and moving by late morning and spent the time wandering the town and shopping at Savers … of course!  I love getting jeans for $4.99!!   The best part … I was able to get a size smaller … YAY!!!  We stopped at Einstein’s bagels and had a snack before was wandered to Pizza Hut to order & pick up our dinner.  After dinner, the kids took us to the BX at the base.  Wow, is that a nice store!  The BX at the base hubby was stationed at, wasn’t anywhere near as nice.  Of course, I wasn’t married to him at that time.

Saturday was the Miche Party.  In addition to a Miche Party, one of the hostesses sells Scentsy.  Scentsy are scented wickless candles.  The scent of the month was Maple Butter.  Oh. My. I’m loving the smell.  I have a night light plug in and dropped a square of the Maple Butter scent.  It sure makes the house  smell good!!  Check out the website here.   You can order through this website.  Check out the Clearance section … pretty cool.  After the party it took me forever to enter and close out my party, but it was done and sent on to my distributor.  We had Cafe Rio for dinner and the portions were quite large!

Sunday we had to leave.  Poor Red had to hold extra things, as I had bought a few things for the party, etc.  Hubby wasn’t too thrilled, but we made it home without blowing any tires!!  Before we got on the road, he and I ate lunch at Golden Corral.  All I can say is yummy!!  Of course, y’all know how I enjoy a buffet!  So on a full belly, we hopped into Red and made the 10 hour drive home.

Monday I had to cram to get my bible study homework done before class that night.

Tuesday hubby had his class at church, so I was able to work on my first day’s homework for Bible Study.  Unfortunately that’s the only time I’ve been able to work on it this week, so that means this weekend I get to scramble to get it done.

While driving home from work on Wednesday, one of my friends called  to ask if I’d be a sub in their bunko game.  Since I’ve never played bunko and that sounded like so much fun, I said yes.  LOL, little did I know what I was getting in to.  Actually, I had a blast and since there is an empty spot, I was able to join them as a regular player.  Once a month, a night of wild and crazy chic fun!

Thursday was a fun filled day.  First thing in the morning I got studded snow tires put on Red.  Tires Plus was having a killer tire sale, so we jumped on it.  I was able to get their lifetime alignment at half price as part of this sale.  With the ruts in the road and the pot holes, I took them up on that offer!!  Then we wandered all over Carson City.  Hung out until hubby’s follow up appointment with  the specialist that did his surgery.  He’s doing super great!!  Doc is real pleased!  YAY!

And now here it is Friday.  I had to work today and am now enjoying the start of my 3 days off!  We just got through watching Angels and Demons.  I was so bummed that Obi Wan was a bad guy.

I haven’t heard anything from the HR department for the test I took 2 weeks ago.  I  have another test on Tuesday for the state.  Should be interesting.  I’m not sure whether to try and brush up on a few things or just go in cold and hopefully things will come back to me.  LOL .. yeah right!!

Well, that’s about it … my past 2 weeks in a post.  So, what are your plans for the weekend?

Double wammy

So how was everyone’s double Monday?  That’s what I call the Tuesday after a Monday holiday.  Our office was busy, we had little rushes here and there and I still had things in my basket to do when I left.  That is such a good feeling!!  I’m working Tues., Wed. & Fri. this week.  I would be working Thursday, however, that’s the day hubby gets the stint and packing out of his nose!  YAY!

Our salesman came down with pneumonia.  He came in for a couple of hours today.  He didn’t look well and hopefully his couple of hours in the office didn’t set him back on recovery time.  Now the co-owner that stays in the office is also sick.  Not thrilled, but we each have antibacterial wipes at our desk so we can wipe the phones, calculators, keyboards … whatever the sickies touch, gets wiped down.

Hubby is doing so much better now that he’s getting sleep.  He’s healing like he should and we can’t wait for Thursday.  He has strings hanging out of his nose, which are attached to the stint.  These strings are taped to his cheeks, so he looks like he has a pencil thin mustache, just misplaced.  He’s back to eating solid food  as long as he chews well.  Of course he hasn’t had anything sharp, like chips or fried anything.  I did pan fry some tilapia, but then I added water to the pan and steamed it a bit so the breading wasn’t hard.

The good thing about hubby’s surgery is that we’ve both lost weight.  I’m trying real hard to not over-eat, which is my biggest problem!

So how was your holiday?  Did you do anything fun?  We watched the fireworks on the television.  It was nice and cool as there was a breeze coming in through the screen.  We watched the Macy’s fireworks … holy cow … how many barges of fireworks did they have?  It was spectacular!!  It was the first 4th of July that hubby has been home.  Usually he’s working at the lake directing traffic and getting abused by tourists.  But this year, we both sat on the couch and oohed and aahed at the explosions on the screen.

Not much else new.  I’m glad he’s healing quickly, now that he’s sleeping.

Hope y’all have a great rest of the week.  Talk at ya later!
