Wow, it’s really November?

I’ve been pretty scarce lately.  I apologize for that, I just haven’t had a chance to sit down and write about my last 4 months.

As you know in July I had eye surgery.  It went real well and it took 3 months for my eye to stable out.  The doc said that my eye sight would change over 3 months.  And it did, I was finally released by the surgeon at the beginning of October.  I just saw my regular eye doctor and he is able to correct my eye sight to 20/30.  I’m excited, the doc not so much!  I guess my cataracts have grown, especially in my surgical eye.  So I guess that is my next endeavor … cataract surgery.  I still have to recoup the cost of the last surgery.  But, we’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.

My son got married in September at Zion National Park. We had such a great time visiting with family.  Here is a picture of my beautiful children along with hubby and I.    I couldn’t find the one with hubby and I.  Actually I see it everyday as it is on my desktop, but I couldn’t get it to upload to WordPress.  Yes, I am a dork!!

It was so great to see my children and grandchildren.  They all have grown so much, but they are sure getting to be their own person.  HAH, children and grandchildren.  Also to be in such a beautiful area, Zion National Park.  I told hubby that I could live there.  It would be so cool!!!  Just saying!

Work has been busy, as September is the start of the ministry year.  With the business comes craziness but, a fun craziness.  Before my son’s wedding, he told me that he is in A-Fib and they had to shock his heart to get his sinus rhythm back .  Well, it didn’t work and the next step is a pacemaker.   So in October, he called to let me know that he was having his pacemaker put in on October 15th.  After my silent initial reaction, I called him the next day to see if he wanted me to come out.  After he and his new bride discussed it, I flew out to Lincoln on Saturday, 10/13.  He had his surgery on Monday, as scheduled and spent the night to make sure all was okay.  His dad and step-mom surprised him and showed up when he returned from recovery.  Ry went home the next day and he is getting better everyday.  By the time I left, he was driving and the seat belt wasn’t irritating his incision, well, not as much as it did in the beginning.  I had asked him the other day how he was feeling and he said great!  I didn’t get to see anyone while I was back in Nebraska, which I apologize for, because I stayed at the house and hung out with the new puppy, my son and his family.  I’m excited for them as they had just bought and moved into a home, before his surgery.  It’s a cute house and the furniture they got for it, transforms the rooms!  Sometimes, I wish I lived closer to all my kids … maybe one day, we’ll get to spend time traveling around to spend a little time with each one.

The Friday after I got home, I went with 2 buses full of ladies from our church to the Women of Faith Conference in Sacramento.  Wow, what an experience!  I had a great time.  So many uplifting speakers and great music.  If you are a female and this conference comes to an area near you, don’t hesitate to go!!  You won’t regret it.  We laughed, we cried, we sang, we were amazed, and in total awe of all that we saw and experienced!  I fell in love with my Savior all over again.  I’m hoping next year, I can get all my girls to go with me.  Now that would be cool, to get my daughters and daughter in law to go.  We’ll see.

In between all of this, I’ve been sick.  Three times on antibiotics and this last time was working.  That is until I felt so good and decided to rake the leaves in the front yard.  I was so exhausted that it was difficult to even lift my arms to put the piles in the hopper.  Once I finished, I was done.  I went to bed and stayed there.  Today I’m better … well, enough to go to work and then to the eye doc.  Now I’m ready for bed and it’s only 7:16pm.

Tomorrow is voting day.  I’ve already voted … but it’s exciting to see the commitment of people to go out there and vote.  We may or  may not agree on the candidates or the issues, but we are doing what this country is all about … democracy … making your choice known by voting.  Standing up for your beliefs.  Just remember, for those that are standing up for their beliefs and voting on their chosen candidate, that is exactly what the next person is doing.  That choice may be the same as yours, but it also may be different from yours, but we all are choosing to do what made us so privileged to live in the USA, voting for our choice.  It looks to be a close race and we’ve all done our part.  Whichever candidate wins, I pray that this candidate does what is best for our country.  Does what’s best for our citizens and get this country recovering from the huge debt, the unemployment, the foreclosures, etc.    So choose your candidate, but remember, the rest of that voting line will choose theirs.

Cows

This is calving season so whenever we drive along the highway, there will be people lined up to see the newborn calves.  However, the biggest attraction are the eagles that hang out and wait to clean up the afterbirth.  We were driving home Friday and saw an eagle in the distance doing its job.  Unfortunately, it was too far out that my zoom on my phone camera didn’t do it justice.  However, I did meet these two ladies:

Action packed weekend

Our trip to Vegas that was on again, off again, until we actually packed the car up and left on Thursday.  I am so glad we did.

Friday, hubby was at his class all day.  I hung out with my sister going to a fashion show at the mall on the strip along with eating very rich Italian food.  After that we went to my niece’s art show at her high school.  Pretty talented kids!  Then we went to … wait for it … a buffet at Sunset Station.  HAHAHAH, hey, buffet in Vegas … you know me!  Plus if you get a Boarding Pass, your buffet price is less than $10.  WooHoo!!!

My daughter ran in the half marathon at Red Rock Canyon on Saturday.  To show my support, I volunteered at this event and spent the morning in my favorite area in Southern Nevada.  Here’s a picture:

It was a great experience and a possible motivation to run a marathon myself.  I’m shooting for my 55th birthday … which is only 2 1/2 years away.  Hubby had class again, which lasted from 11am until 10pm, long day for him.

Hubby had his final class Sunday.  I dropped him off at a shooting range on Sunday morning, then I had coffee with the escrow officer I worked with before I left Las Vegas.  We had a great time talking away.  At first I wasn’t sure if I’d recognize her after all these years, but … there was no problem!  I knew the minute she walked into the courtyard.  We talked for 3 hours and we still didn’t catch up!  I can’t wait until we can get together again … maybe the next time we’ll bring our hubbies.  LOL … maybe.

Sunday night my sis, her hubby, my hubby, my niece and I had dinner at Lucille’s BBQ place.  Oh, was that good!

Today we drove home.  Of course we didn’t leave until 2:30 this afternoon!   We made it home safe and sound.  We even saw three F-16s on final approach and land at the base in Indian Springs.  Always a treat to see these planes fly.

I’m sure glad I have tomorrow off, so I can get the laundry done!  Oh goody!

Fighting to the Weekend

Have any of you had one of those weeks where it was a major fight to get to the weekend?  That is me and I’m sighing with relief that it is Saturday!!  We have one more week before the Holiday then, I’m not sure what the fall will have in store for me at work.

So, I’m trying to gear up my Miche Business again.  I hate that I couldn’t do it this summer, as I was way too exhausted to even think about it.  Anyway, here are pictures of the August Releases:

The minis at the bottom are perfect for your daughters/nieces/cousins.  The diaper bag, I may start using as a Book/Tote Bag.  Look at all those pockets on the outside!  The Sandy Bag, comes with a changeable sash ribbon.

I saw September’s releases at our meeting, they are so pretty, I cannot wait to get them!

If you have never been to my website OR if you’ve been there before, please VISIT AGAIN, as there are NEW Prices AND there are MANY shells on sale at HALF PRICE.  So check it out HERE!    Remeber, Christmas is just around the corner and I’m sure you know of someone with a birthday coming up soon.

Talk at you later, I have to take something for my knee.  Oh yeah, forgot to tell you, I tweaked it yesterday.  It really feels like something is out of place, hopefully it will find its way back quickly!

Later!

Thank you, God, for Fridays.

Today was almost like a normal summer day at work … almost … I am very happy the week is over with.   Ugh … I’m getting too old for this sh*t!!

The best thing was coming home and knowing I don’t have to go back until Monday.  Since we’ve been eating Smart Ones all week, I came home, looked at hubby and said … “I want meat!!  We are going out to dinner!!”  So we walked to the Mexican Restaurant down the street.  On the way we walked through the “Shine & Show” of classic hot rods and classic old cars.  I tried not to drool, but here’s a couple of pics

So Purdy!!!  After drooling, we made it to the restaurant and we both ordered the Carne Asada.  Yum!!  Then we splurged and had their fried ice cream.   We’ve just come home from walking, as we were so stuffed!!  It made for a great Friday night, though!!!  Now I’m medicated and ready for bed.  I’m going to start tomorrow early and hang out with my friend, Jen.  I can’t wait!!

The bears have become quite active at the lake this week.  I had several calls today about bear breakins.  I guess the other night, there was a bear on the beach at one of the nice restaurants along with lake.  They had a fire going in the pit and the bear was sittin next to the fire eating.   LOL, I mean really he was just eating, sitting by the fire and enjoying the view … Geesh!!  And all these humans were trying to interupt his peaceful dinner!!   Unfortunately, they called the deputies and they had to shoot him with rubber pellets to chase the bear away!  LOL, All I could think of was Yogi Bear and Booboo.

At church, the pastor has been doing a series on Summer Block Buster Movies.  The first week was Iron Man 2.  Last week was Toy Story 3 and a great message on Leadership, whether it be at work, home or church.  I can’t wait to see what movie this weekend will cover!

Well, I guess I’ll go … I hope y’all have a great weekend.  I’m not sure what’s in store for me, but I am going to enjoy it!!

Carson Valley Days, celebrating 100 years

I woke this morning and remembered the parade.  As the parade was going to line up and start a few block from my house, I decided to get up and wander down the street.   It’s been a long time since I went to a daytime parade.

I had the perfect seat on a park bench along the street.  Then the lady selling buttons told me I could either buy a button or get thrown in jail.  LOL, of course I didn’t have any money.  So I told her to hold my seat and I’ll go into the restaurant and get a coffe and change.  Unfortunately, the line was long, and the lady had to go.  When I finally got my coffee and danish as well as $5.00, I went back outside.  My bench was still free, but another person with buttons was waiting.  So I gave her my money and proudly put my button on my jacket.  It would have been a kick to get thrown in their jail, as it was being dragged behind these ladies with a truck.  HAH, one way of being in the parade.  The bad thing, is … I don’t know enough people here that would bail me out!

There was a really cool steam engine tractor as one of the entries.  I thought of taking a picture after it passed, but you can  still see it.

Only in Northern Nevada would there be an entry of saloon girls … LOL … okay, maybe also in Deadwood, SD.  But this was pretty fun.  It was advertising the Genoa Bar.

There was another float with saloon girls and cowboys playing poker at a table as part of another float.  I forgot which company they represented, I just thought it was cool.  I love going up to Virginia City on the weekend.  The shop workers usually dress up in clothes from the old west.

One of the ladies along the parade route, was kind enough to take a pic of me, while we were waiting for the parade to start.  All my hair is in a ponytail.

That was my morning.  Now I guess I should try and tackle our back room, so I can move my Miche Bag stuff  out of the guest room and into the back room.   We are expecting company on the 16th or 17th, although I haven’t heard from them yet.   It would be hubby’s sis and her husband as they drive through during their move to Washington State from Las Vegas.

Y’all have a good weekend!!  Talk at ya later.

Giving Back

This is why I enjoy being a Sales Representative for Miche Bag.  This is part of the press release describing the Hope Shell.

Miche Bag, the brand that created the wildly popular interchangeable handbag, announced the release of its newest bag along with a big goal on January 8, 2010.  The bag, called “Hope”, features quotes from cancer patients and survivors.  The new “Hope” bag is being sold through Miche distributors worldwide and online at http://www.michebag.com; proceeds will be donated to Huntsman Cancer Foundation to fund cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Janet Bingham, PhD, President and CEO of Huntsman Cancer Foundation says, “The funds raised through Miche Bag’s ‘Hope’ shell go directly to easing the suffering of cancer patients and their families in the form of lifesaving research.  We’re grateful for the dedication of the Miche Bag company to the cancer cause and the commitment to act on Miche’s own slogan:  ‘One Bag, Endless Possibilities.’”

Miche Bag designer Jennie Platt felt that supporting cancer research was a perfect fit for the company because so many people associated with Miche Bag have shared personal battles with this terrible disease.  “In helping put together this program I was introduced to many courageous and inspiring people who were willing to share their journey with cancer,” Platt says, “a battle filled with challenges but also hope, love and beauty.  The shell I created needed to resonate this same message.  In the end, their message became the design and ‘Hope’ became a shell.”

Linda Hill is a cancer survivor and knows first-hand the importance of funding research.  “If it were not for cancer research many of us would not be here today, and funding is what makes the goal of a cure possible.  My hope lies in The Huntsman Cancer Institute and their dedication to finding a cure.  In a time where budget cuts are the norm, for Miche Bag to join The Huntsman brings us one step closer to that cure.”

Miche CEO, Corbin Church, is also personally dedicated to this cause.  “As a company, we wanted to do something that would benefit the communities where Miche is sold.  It is crucial that our company’s success has a lasting legacy and we all felt Huntsman Cancer Institute was the perfect association for Miche Bag.”

Church’s goal is to raise $1 million for cancer research by the end of 2010

These are the Hope Shells made from Miche Bag.

Unfortunately, cancer is not a stranger to my family.  I have lost my dad from lung cancer and my mom had breast cancer before she passed.  My oldest sister had breast cancer 10 years ago and I am so thankful to say that she is cancer free.

This campaign Miche is doing touches my heart and makes me feel a part of fighting this disease.

If you would like to join in this fight, contact me in the comments below or through my email, dobegil@yahoo.com.

Who is this group of people across the street

I’m thinking there’s a walking tour going through town.  Probably not a good time for me to go out and fire up the lawn mower.  Maybe I’ll start in the back.   Throughout the little neighborhood I live, there are markers along some of the homes.   It is fun to read the markers at each home.  My house was built in the 70’s so, no marker  and no historical site.

Switching subjects, our muttly no longer has any bottom teeth.  His last tooth was pulled yesterday, as it was real loose.  So loose that we were able to pull it out ourselves, as with all of his other rotten teeth.    We’ve switched him to canned food, because of this reason.  Hubby put a napkin on him since he was dining, on the new food.

Poor guy, I’m sure muttly was thinking, “The things I let these humans do to me!”

K-Love & Love Dare

As we were driving to work yesterday, K-Love was talking about the Love Dare.  Lisa and Eric on the morning show were going to do the Love Dare challenge.  This challenge is for 40 days and starting 1/6, it will take you to Valentines Day.

I thought how cool that would be.  So my challenge to you and me is to try it for 40 days.  However, I do not want to limit it to spouses/significant others … what if we extended it to family, friends, neighbors and yes, strangers.  How would it affect the world?  Or your part of the world?

Today’s challenge:  Be patient again today and do at least one kind thing that someone else wouldn’t expect.

What is desirable in a man is his kindness. (Proverbs 19:22)

This could be holding a door open for someone or letting that car in that’s trying to cut you off and not displaying that hand gester while doing it or  pay for that car behind you in the drive up, just to name a few.

Yesterday’s challenge was to be patient.  Don’t say anything you’ll regret.

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient,
bearing with one another in love. —Ephesians 4:2 NIV

This was a real challenge for me.  Hubby was telling me about his day and I was getting upset.  I’ve been down this road with him many times with many of his jobs and I was getting mad and angry.  I was about to spew awful words and remembered the challenge.  Then I saw this beautiful sunset.  As I was commenting on it, he stopped so I could snap this picture.

Seeing the beauty removed the words, although it did take me a while to deflate my anger.

Some pics of family

As I mentioned in the previous post, my nephew and his wife hosted Christmas lunch.

My Belle and nephew

My Belle, I think I’ve called her that in this blog before.  This is our younger daughter, technically my daughter from first husband.  Hubby and I have children from our previous marriages, but we just call them our children, no “step” … which comes from hubby’s mom.  Her quote, “You are either family or not, there is NO step in front of it!!”
