A worship song?

Growing up in the 70’s, this song always had a different meaning.  The romantic thoughts of a long time steady relationship, thinking you found your one and only when you are a teenager.

Not too long ago, I heard this song again, sung by Rod Stewart and I heard the words for the first time.  They have such a different meaning to me now.  What a worship song this is.

Have I told you lately – sung by Rod Stewart

Have I told you lately that I love you?
Have I told you there’s no one else above you?
Fill my heart with gladness

Take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles that’s what you do
For the morning sun in all its glory
Greets the day with hope and comfort too

You fill my life with laughter
And somehow you make it better
Ease my troubles that’s what you do
There’s a love that’s divine

And it’s yours and its mine like the sun
And at the end of the day
We should give thanks and pray
To the One, to the One

Have I told you lately that I love you?
Have I told you there’s no one else above you?
Fill my heart with gladness
Take away all my sadness

Ease my troubles that’s what you do
There’s a love that’s divine
And it’s yours and its mine like the sun
And at the end of the day

We should give thanks and pray
To the One, to the One
And have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you there’s no one else above you?

You fill my heart with gladness
Take away my sadness
Ease my troubles that’s what you do
Take away all my sadness
Fill my life with gladness
Ease my troubles that’s what you do

Take away all my sadness
Fill my life with gladness
Ease my troubles that’s what you do
