OOOOoooo

Okay, those of you that are under age – just pass on this post.

So – Now that that disclaimer is out of the way –

I was driving home and I realized that my pants were tight.  How did I know – well, our car’s suspension isn’t good and the car was oscillating on the highway.  So much that my tight pants were rubbing along my no-no place … let’s just say it was a very interesting drive home.

To those of you that were eating or drinking – I apologize if you choked.  But … I need to lose weight … or do I?!?!?!?!

I’m trusting you all had a Happy Thanksgiving!  We spent time with my BFF, her family and her husband’s family.  Food was yummy and the company was fun!  Yesterday we had an intimate turkey dinner with another couple (friends & neighbors).  While the turkey was finishing cooking, we watched Friendsgiving.  LOL, animals that are not compatible, but they were and had a great bond, like a bear, tiger and a lion.  That was pretty interesting.

I did wander out on Black Friday.  Not with a shopping purpose, but to see what was going on.  I have to say, with the stores doing their Black Friday sales Thursday night, Friday was actually pleasant to wander around the stores.  I bought a queen set of microfiber sheets for $14 at JCP. I cannot have weight on my legs while sleeping, otherwise my legs cramp from the heaviness.  These microfiber sheets are lightweight and warm!!  I will definitely buy more in the future.

I didn’t go crazy shopping, as I had to get my glasses ordered.  My drivers license will expire on 12/12/12 (yes, I am playing the lottery that day).  So first priority was get the glasses ordered.  As my prescription lenses would be expensive in the bifocals, I ordered the single vision.  That way I can see to pass the eye test.    I should have them by the 6th.  I know, I’m cutting it close … hence the title of this blog.

I’m enjoying my 4 days off.  It’s nice to spend 2 of the days with friends!  I know I need to clean the house and do the large overflowing load of laundry.  But … hahaha …. right now I’m watching McLintock.  This is one of my favorite John Wayne movies … but ssshhhh … don’t tell my hubby!!  Between James Bond and John Wayne … well, you get the picture.

All around Facebook people are posting what they are thankful for – for me, I’m thankful for my faith. my family, my friends, and my life!  I know it’s the start of the Christmas Season and I get a bluesy through New Years … hopefully … it will be different this year!

Here we are … Tuesday again.

I’m happy to report that I am still among the living.   I haven’t had any heavy pressure in my chest, just wiggy eyes.  Hah, so what is “wiggy eyes?”  Well, to me it is feeling like my eyes are rolling around apart from each other.  It gets worse when I eat sweets.  Today at staff meeting, we were celebrating June B-days.  They had mini warm lava cakes.  Yeah, one of my favorite things … so I couldn’t resist.  I definitely paid for it.  After staff I went for a walk, had lunch, then walked again.  My body was all charged up with no place to go as I had to be at my desk.  So I’m pretty tired now.

I’m in the tapering off week.  Tomorrow, I go down to 4 pills … I’ll be happy when I’m down to zero.

My son is getting married in September and I finally made my reservation for the room.  This is the place we are staying.  So I’m excited.  It will be nice to be on vacation.  Now to secure a rental car, when you have no credit card.  Ugh … I’m not looking forward to this part.

Anyway, I just stopped in to say that I am still here.  I’m all wacked out as far as my vitals go … but this too shall pass once the drugs leave my system.

Anyway, y’all have a great week!

Happy Memorial Day!!

Wow, I never thought I’d have such a great weekend, but that is exactly what happened.  We had a girls weekend at a  cabin at Meeks Bay on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe.  From Friday night until Sunday morning, there were 9 of us there.  I know we all had a hesitation about going, as we didn’t know everyone well, but were blessed with such a compatible group of women.  As the weather on Saturday morning was not conducive to go outside, we stayed in.  With staying in, we all did our own thing and were comfortable in the silence of book reading, knitting, sleeping and pedicures.  We found ourselves having great conversations and finding out we had so much in common that the time flew by.  We had so much food, but it was so good!!

On Sunday, the weather cleared up and we were able to take a walk along the beach and took many pictures.

Today hubby and I were able to accompany a group from church to feed the Marines at the Marine Mountain Warfare Training Center.  What an absolute blessing!  I’m so glad we went and spent a few hours feeding them.  When we arrived, they were  training on repelling off the face of the mountain.   Hubby and I went to sit among them as we ate and it was so much fun!   We ended up talking with a Captain from Omaha, NE.

Even though this was an action packed weekend, I feel so relaxed and rested.  I’m so thankful for this weekend and all the gems that I got out of it.

Next up, my childhood best friend arrives on Friday to visit.  I’m excited to see her and her husband!!!

I hope you all are safe and sound after this holiday.  Have a great week!!

Happy Birthday, Hotbun … er … Husband

May 20th is hubby’s birthday.  We’ve spent the afternoon in Reno.  Sparks really, as I had to return rented table cloths to the party rental place.  Since we were there and hubby wanted to eat at Outback Steakhouse, we were going to hang out at The Legends Mall until they opened.  However, once we drove by, there were many cars in front of the restaurant and the front door was open.  So we turned around and went to check it out.  I’m really glad we did.  They were doing a fundraiser for one of the elementary schools.  For $20 each, we got a salad, warm bread, rib eye steak, chicken and mashed potatoes.  After this wonderful food, we then were served a piece of cheesecake with raspberry drizzle.  So worth the $20 as it was all very good!  I love not having a plan and finding the opportunities.   We were able to celebrate his birthday AND help a school buy hand held computers for their students.

After that we wandered to Cabela’s … had a great time looking around.  I love watching the fish in the aquarium.  It’s was interesting as they all came to the window, like I was the fish whisperer or something.  But I just looked down at my shirt and it’s quite colorful and sparkly so they were probably thinking I had food.  HAHAHA … oh well, it was fun talking to them anyway!

We are home now and I’m exhausted.  I’m definitely ready for bed at 8:15pm.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend.  I’m going to bed now.  Nighty Night!

Happy Mother’s Day to all you Momma’s out there!

So hubby was baptized on April 28th as scheduled.  One of the highlights of our marriage!  Then Sunday was the celebration at our house.  We had around 20+ people here…as our house is small, we all wandered out to the patio (back driveway which is semi-covered) and had a great time!  Many Thanks to my sister for marking the uneven cracks in the cement and for decorating the patio, as well as the new heavy duty card table and chairs!

After that we got to visit for the next couple of days, then she left Wednesday morning.  We left Thursday morning for Thrive, W O W ! ! !  It was an action packed 48 hours, but so energizing and fulfilling.  For those of you that serve in Ministry and/or work for a church, you definitely need to check out Thrive here.  I’m hoping we get to go again next year!!  We had a great time and great freebies!!

We came home Saturday night and picked up muttly from Sushi 4 Lunch’s house – Thanks again for watching our very spoiled dog!!  Then  we crashed the rest of the day.  Hubby had to work in his ministry on Sunday and I continued to rest as I knew I had a full week ahead of me.

I’ve managed to rake the yard, yesterday.  Working in the yard is something I enjoy, however, my back sure doesn’t.  I started paying for it yesterday afternoon, however, today … I am really paying for it.  I wanted to go to church yesterday, since I had to do some job work over the phone and after church I came home with several more things to take care of.  To make matters even more interesting, I had taken a pain pill around noon yesterday … so being at the 4:30pm service was quite a new experience.  Note to self – do not take a pain pill before church.  Although I was pain free!!

Today, I have one more call to make for work and an email – then hopefully I’ll be done for the day and can relax and maybe, just maybe, my back pain will ease up and I can enjoy the rest of the day.

So that’s it … My wild and crazy world is still wild and crazy … and I wouldn’t have it any other way!!

Again, Happy Momma’s Day to all you Mommas out there!

Many things going on

So many things going on, I’m not sure I can get them all written down.  Let’s see, first of all, I’m feeling better.  I don’t think I’m quite 100% however, I am feeling so much better.  I’m hoping this week I’ll finally be fully recovered.

Then hubby got really sick.  I mean really sick to the point of spewing his guts most of last Thursday morning.  I left work early to take him to the doc.  He was feeling achy before Thursday, but the velocity of his getting sick, was more along the lines of food poisoning.  Unfortunately these were too close for the doc to tell.  But he said either way, he picked up a bug.  If it’s the flu it will take a while to recover.  If it is food poisoning, it will can take 3 days up to 6 days to recover.  What I didn’t realize is that  one can have a fever with food poisoning.  It makes sense after the doc said that your body is reacting, not to the bug itself, but the toxins the bug leaves behind.  Therefore, the fever is your body’s natural defense.  Poor guy, yesterday he was feeling a little better, however, he was weak and no energy.  Today he was feeling a little better and overdid it by doing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen.  I made him stay home from his volunteer work so he could continue to recover.  He plans on going to work tomorrow, but again, I told him to take tomorrow’s volunteering night off so he can finally kick this thing.  I felt so bad as he was just burning up with a fever,, achy all over and his stomach hurt so bad!

He’s been planning on getting baptized as a reconfirmation of his commitment to Christ.  He needs to take his class on Thursday night, then baptism is on Saturday afternoon.  On Sunday, we are having an Open House to celebrate this wonderful decision and I am so excited and proud of my hubby.   My sister, his sister and her husband will be here to join in the celebration, so we are excited!

Next week, hubby and I go to Sacramento for Thrive.  I am so excited, as I’ve always wanted to go to Thrive.  So I’m real excited to go with hubby and as a staff member to this great conference.  We’ll be gone at the end of next week and I really cannot wait!!

Since we will be gone, I have to board the dog.  Unfortunately, he’s due for all his shots before I can board him.  So Thursday morning, hubby is taking him to Reno to get shot … hahaha … vaccinated that is.  So much to do to prepare to be gone for 3 days.  Plus getting the house together for the party.  I’m so excited, exhausted and anxious … LOL … so much to do, so little time.

Well, I hope you all have a great rest of the week.

Cows

This is calving season so whenever we drive along the highway, there will be people lined up to see the newborn calves.  However, the biggest attraction are the eagles that hang out and wait to clean up the afterbirth.  We were driving home Friday and saw an eagle in the distance doing its job.  Unfortunately, it was too far out that my zoom on my phone camera didn’t do it justice.  However, I did meet these two ladies:

Oh Duh, How Could I Forget?

I forgot the most important thing from last week.  I’ve contributed to the funding of our local county sheriff’s office.  Yup, I got a ticket in old red.  After waiting on the 100+ of the 55+ years old at church, I was so exhausted when it was time to drive home.  The light in town changed to yellow and I was so brain dead that I didn’t react.  Just as I entered the intersection, it turned red.  Yeah, I have the nice reminder to send my $150 to the local justice court, so I don’t go to the pokey, on the fridge!    I so did not need this, but it was totally my fault … plus the deputy was a cutie so how could I be mad.  Men in uniform … I’m such a sucker!

What a weekend

I’ve been at the church most of the weekend.   I thought I’d be exhausted from this weekend, however, it was not the case.  I felt so energized and full of encouragement that I wanted the weekend to continue on.

Friday night, after working all day, was the first day of the Love and Respect Conference.  Oh. My. Word.  If you have ever wanted to know why your spouse/significant other thinks, talks, does the things they do … this is a MUST!!  I thought my husband was the only one … But not so!!  He or I am not wrong … we are just different.  You can check out the website for Love & Respect here.    Check out the website and see if the live conference  will be in your area.  If not, then obtain the DVD’s or CD’s … SO DEFINATELY WORTH THE MONEY!!!

After being at the L & R conference all morning Saturday … Saturday afternoon was the first service with Dave Dravecky as the guest speaker.  WOW!!  As I had to be at all the services (1 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday morning), I was not bored with any of his speech.  He made each time just a little different, but still the same.  It was very good!!  If he should ever come to your area, he is a a MUST see!  His website is here.  Very Powerful stuff!!!

So the weekend flew by and I was happy and sad that it was gone in a flash.  I wanted to savor it as long as I could.  Have I told you how much I LOVE my church and LOVE my job!?!?  Best things in the world!!  Thank you God!!!
