Just for fun

Just for the heck of it, I thought I’d try to do a road map of the tangled web … lol … are you ready?  Now keep up…

There’s me, who went to school with Jill.  We went to school with John (my hubby).  John and Jill got married out of high school.  They introduced me to my  first husband, Mike.  Mike and John were best friends.  John was best man and Jill was one of my bridesmaids when Mike & I got married.  J&J had a daughter, which I refer to as our oldest in my posts.  M & me had a daughter & son, which I  refer to as our middle daughter and son in my posts.   Then to shake things up a bit, we all divorced. 

I started dating John.  Mike started dating  his old girlfriend, Kim.  Jill started dating one of her friend’s ex-husband, Doug.  We all got remarried.  LOL, so in our childrens lives, there are Mike, Kim, Jill, Doug, John & Me. 

Even though we all divorced each other … when you have children, you  still have the exes in your lives.  There are some that won’t have anything to do with their exes … can’t even be in the same state much less the same room as them.  Which I think is hard for all, especially the kids.

Do we all get along … not always.  Do the exes piss us off, yes … but you just deal with it, because between all of us, we have these beautiful children.  Now these beautiful children gave us grandchildren.  So, we continue to have our exes in our lives.

Confused?  Wait, it gets better … Mike and John are friends with Rick.  Rick is married to Rose.  Rose had a couple of daughters.  One of her daughter’s first husband is currently our middle daugther’s husband.  From that first marriage is a daughter and a grand-daughter to Rick and Rose.  Now that our middle daughter is married to Erik, his daughter  not only has Rick & Rose for grandparents, but Mike & Kim, and John and me.   LOL … so at family functions, when it comes to our children from my first marriage and our grandchildren … Mike, Kim, Rick and Rose are  invited.   As was the case at the family BBQ.

Whenever we play connect the dots, usually everyone is confused before we get to the half way point.  Their eyes glaze over and give us the deer in the headlight look.

We were at our 30th yr class reunion, hubby was connecting the dots for a husband of one of my friends … he had to stop hubby, because he was getting a headache!  LOL … our 10th yr class reunion hubby was talking to someone and said, well I’d better go find my wife … to which that classmate said, “Oh, Jill’s over there.”  Hubby then said, “Not that wife, my other wife!”  

Headache?  take two asprins and call me in the morning.

Glazed eyes?  shut them, count to ten and reopen.

Confused?   LOL … join the club!

Family Tree?   Don’t go there, the branches will make the tree fall!

New week

Time sure does fly.  We drove to Vegas this weekend  for a family BBQ and to meet the girl our son has been dating.  She is really nice, cute and pretty outgoing.  Kudos to her for braving the whole family … my side of the family, hubby’s sister and her family as well as my ex-husband, his wife and a couple of mutual friends. 

My life reads like a soap opera … and … I didn’t realize it until this weekend, how confusing our family can be to an outsider.  So I pretty much told her … there are no exes or steps, we are all just family.   LOL … poor thing needed a score card to keep track.  I started one for her and I got confused … lol … does that tell you anything???    Oh yes, what tangled webs we weave … yeah, okay, I woved … LOL!

It all went by so quick and now it’s Monday evening.  Our class starts again on Thursday and we have to have Chapter 8 read and the homework done … I don’t think I finished reading Chapter 7.  So, my week is off and running.  Here’s hoping I have the staying power to get through the next 8 weeks of  biblical counseling training … should be interesting.

Tax Day Fallout

I’m assuming everyone survived good old tax day.  Some a bit poorer than before, but that deed is done … well for the most of us.

I mailed our taxes on Monday.  Yesterday I had to take a few certified letters to the post office and the line was out the door … DUH … I forgot what day it was … I’ll have to mail them from here today, since this is my RDO (regular day off).

Today is the monthly doc check up … I don’t want to say this too loud, but neither of us are sick!  Can that be possible????!!!!????  I’m not sure our bodies will know what to do without another round of heavy duty antibiotics … LOL

Update on my wellness journey … I’m down to two medications … am I telling the doc that ?  Heck no!  He just wants to continue to prescribe meds for me !!  Don’t get me wrong, as I’ve said before, I love the doc … he’s funny and smart, but thanks to the pharmacutical companies, his job is to give another pill for this or that.  Never mind that they counteract each other.  Never mind that the side effects can be worst than the problem!  Never mind that the dang co-pay is $50 … hell-ooooo … I’ve got better things to do with $50, thank you very much!

Oh sorry, got off on a rant … let’s see back to wellness journey.  I’m down to two meds (blood pressure and diabetes).   No more cholesterol pills, which by the way, was the one that kept me feeling sick and tired-like the flu.  One of the great side effects of this drug.  No more heavy duty anti-inflamatories, which was causing the pain that radiated up into my chest.  No more heavy duty cough syrup, which was causing my eczema flareups.  No more antibiotics, which was destroying the good bacteria the body needs.  

NO MORE MEDS!  NO MORE MEDS!  NO MORE MEDS!!   LOL, sorry, I wanted to get in on my own protest!

Remember how I was done for the night at 6-7pm?? You know, after dinner, I was in bed by 8pm so I could have enough hours to toss and turn and toss and turn in order to try and get enough hours of sleep to function the next day?  Well, baby, not anymore!  This girl is up past 11pm … lol … I feel like a kid whose gone past her bedtime!  PLUS … I sleep soundly through the night and wake up ready to go … WITHOUT coffee!!!!  WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Somebody pinch me … I must be dreaming!  I thought for sure the next 20+ years was going to be bed at 7pm, up at 5:30am, dragging all day and looking forward to 7pm.

That’s just me … I haven’t even touched on how hubby’s doing … but that, as they say, is for another day.

What would it be like …

I’m wondering how uncomplicated our lives would be without muttly and tank.  Most definately we would breathe better!  No Freddie nuggets to pick up from the yard and no mess to clean after the cat … hmmm …

Bath time

Last night I gave our very large cat a bath.  Of course I had to brush her first and get the piles of fur off her before I put her in the tub.  I was so sure I’d get scratched all to pieces, however, giving her a bath in the tub with glass shower enclosures, turned out to be easier than in the kitchen sink.  At one point she was flat on her belly with all fours spread out … she had no traction in the tub. 

Now she’s soft kitty and all the parts she can’t clean herself are now clean.  We’ll see how long it lasts.

Had to share

I have a cousin that is the brother to a member of Metallica.  Does that mean he’s also a cousin to me?  I’m not sure, since my uncle had passed and neither of his parents are my blood relative…. however, my cousin and this member were raised as true brothers which is reflected here in this video.  I am so proud of them … how cool is that?

Good Evening

I’m real happy Monday’s over with.  Not that anything happened, just that I’m closer to my days off … lol … yeah, I know, rub it in!  Last days off were pretty busy and no, GH, we didn’t go to the party on Saturday.  It was way northeast past Reno and Sparks and I didn’t want to use up the half a tank of gas it would take to get there and back.  I know, pretty lame excuse … but hey, that’s me.

Monday nights are always difficult … even though today was a decent day, by the time I get home, I’m wiped.  Although I did the treadmill (without the dog) while watching Dancing with the Stars.

The office manager’s sister and her family stopped by the office.  This is the sister that had that awful rare cancer.  After the series of heavy duty chemo, they did the open chest operation to remove the tumor and found it was still encapsilated.  They’ve ran other tests on her and she is cancer free!  YAYA!!  It has been 4 weeks and she looks great!!!  She’s still wearing her wig, because her hair is starting to grow in, but one would never know all she has been through since October.  I thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!!!

Looks like we are traveling sooner than anticipated … we’re going to Vegas on the 17th.  Family BBQ at my nephews house, so the fam can visit with my son while he’s there.  He won’t have the grandbabies with him, but that’s okay, it will give him more time to zoom around town seeing everyone he wants to connect with, before jumping back on the plane to the midwest.

Other than that … not much else new.  I hope y’all have a great week!!  Talk at ya later.

All things are possible

You all know how bad I’ve been physically feeling over the past year and a half to two years.  I’m on a journey of wellness.  I’m sick of all the medications I’m on, making me sicker.  I’m sick of feeling like I can’t commit to anything, because I don’t know what my body will do to keep me from whatever I want to do.   I’m sick and tired of being … sick and tired!   It’s time to do something about it or die before my time is supposed to be up!

Last Friday my back ached so bad, I could hardly stand and walking was quite painful.  Each day of my wellness journey, my back was getting better. 

Hubby’s been on a diaretic for a year now.  Why? … because his legs and ankles were swollen and the doc can’t find a reason for it.  He did check his heart and thank you God, it wasn’t that.  So, he was given a pill to help the swelling.  What I’ve noticed the whole time he’s been on this med, the swelling hasn’t gone down.   If anything, there were days he looked worse.  We were out of our medicines for several days before I picked up the refills this afternoon.  Hubby’s been out of his meds since Tuesday (4/7).  We started our wellness journey since Friday (3/27).  We were getting ready to go to the doc this morning.  As he was getting into the shower, I noticed that his legs had definition.  He had knees and ankles!!!!!   I was quite surprised.   Am I jazzed … you betcha!!   If this is how we feel in one week, I can’t wait to see how we feel in one month.

I’ll keep ya’ll posted.

As for the surgeon … he wants to wait a couple of months to see how his shoulder is doing.  Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

Nice quick work day

I did go to work for a few hours … I took the dog with me.  The office manager and her husband (one of the owners) gave muttly to us.  I figured, since my time was short, he’d be okay.  He was a good boy, after he settled down.  I don’t know if he remembered is previous owners, but they got to visit with him. 

I had to redo the window quote, which turned out to be okay.  The program for these particular windows, won’t let us change a window, without deleting it and adding the correct type of window at the end of the quote.  So, it would be all out of order.    As long as it’s a size change, it will let you do it, however, if it is a window type change … lol … forget it. 

The storm is blowing in.  The wind is rattling the windows with each gust that hit the house.  Hopefully Saturday will be nicer since the party’s a hawaiian theme, outside …

I was going to make a book about what to do while retired, but, March quickly flew by.  I may still do it and mail it to her, if I don’t get it done before Saturday.
