You did what?

Merry Christmas!

All the way down to Vegas we played Christmas music.  As much as I love the season, after 8 hours of Christmas music, I’m kinda tired of the same songs over and over again by different artists.

I just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.  We are almost ready to leave for the airport.

Everyone have a great one, talk at ya next year!

And the countdown begins

Wow, three more days, okay, since it is evening on the 22nd, 2 more days until Christmas.   I’m taking Wednesday off so we can drive to Vegas in the daytime, then fly on Christmas Day.  So … one more day of work … YIPPEE!!!  Although, I have so much to do before we jump in the truck and head south!

I’m a procrastinator, married to another procrastinator.  Care to guess when we’ll be packing?  My goal is to leave between 8-9am on Wednesday Morning.  Realistically, add an hour or so to that.  The weather from here to  Tonopah is supposed to be snowy/icy/rainy?  After driving the skating rink called the highway this morning, I don’t want to be driving at night with these cold temps.

We haven’t had enough snow for the road to look like a bobsled run, however, it sure was icy enough to be one.  Makes for quite an adventure in the morning drive.

Hubby’s in the front room groaning.  He’s hoping the Bears lose tonight, so his Vikings will clinch the division, however, it’s 17/17 in OT and the Bears are about to kick a field goal.  I guess I had better stand by with the paper bag in case he starts hyperventilating.  LOL … Rut roh, suspense … and the kick is …wait for it …. Good … rah rah, cheer cheer … however, there is cursing coming from the other room.  Hmm, maybe I’m not ready to go to bed yet!  LOL … Oh well, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, stick a fork in the Vikings, their done!  I guess they have one more chance, the Vikings have to beat the Giants … LOL … yeah right, like that’s going to be happening!

Well, if I don’t post again before I leave, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very safe and Happy New Year!

And this is why I love Red Rock Canyon

Happy Birthday Bud!

Our youngest grandson turns two today.  Wow, I cannot get over he’s already two.  From what I hear he’s gotten so big that he looks like he’s three.  This is the same one who broke his ankle.  He is doing great and no problems.  Young bones, amazing.  A doc friend of mine said even though it’s scary, he’ll be fine … don’t ya just hate it when the doc is right?  LOL … thanks GM for your insight.

I’m getting pretty excited.  In 5 days we will be in Nebraska to visit this little guy along with his sister and my son.  You know the anxiety you get when you get ready for a trip?  Well that’s me, I’m in the thinking stage of what to bring for clothes (shoes & coats also), how to pack it, the weather, you know all that traveling stuff that bogs ya down when you get ready for a trip.  Then I have the anticipation  of what we to do with the grand babies, you know, places to see, places to wander.

I must be getting older, I never used to get so worried about these things.   Or maybe I have never voiced them before.  I’d just throw stuff in a bag and go.  I’d wear what I had, do what we want and all was fine.  Is it age that makes one think this way?  Dang, if it is, slap me up side my head!

Snow snow snow

I felt it was appropriate that I add the snow to the site.  (Yeah, I know, it’s hard to see it through the white.)  It snowed in my hometown of Las Vegas NV.  My daughter sent us pics of the snow falling at night in front of her house.  My sis called to say she was driving in snow, which I said, what in the heck are you doing talking to me?

Snow in Las Vegas isn’t unusual.  It just isn’t every year.  When it does snow, the view is spectacular.  Snow on top of the mountains in Red Rock Canyon is my favorite memory.  Not surprising since Red Rock Canyon is my favorite place to visit in Vegas.  There is so much more to Vegas than the casinos.

There are even places to ski, although during the drought years, they aren’t as thick a base or as powdery of snow as Heavenly.  As I don’t ski or snow board (unless you count sliding down on my rear on a piece of plastic, sledding), it doesn’t affect me here or there.

The homefront here has snow on the ground, another threat of more snow, but so much beauty.  I definately had the studded snow tires put on the truck just in time!

I haven’t been on a morning date with Richard for a week.  Amazing how a week undoes the month of working out.  *sigh*  My excuse … it’s too flippin cold to get out of bed!  Yes, I know, it’s a lame one, albeit a truthful one!

Well, time to fix breakfast, ya’ll have a great day!

It’s called Christmas

I had posted this song last year, but it is worth reposting again.  It’s pretty much how I feel.

The Miracles of Christmas

The Miracle of Christmas by Stephen Curtis Chapman

I watched him perform this song on the Billy Graham Christmas Program last night.  You tube had the video, but the sound quality wasn’t very good.  I did, however, find this one.

I cannot believe it is 11 days until Christmas.  Our office is going to be closed 12/24 in the afternoon and we won’t open again until January 5.  Which is probably a good thing, since we will be in Nebraska for most of that time.

This year we probably won’t see a Christmas bonus, so I’ve been stressing about presents and all.  But ya know, Christmas really isn’t about presents.  It’s about caring and loving and being with people.  So, even though this year we won’t be giving the material things, we do get to share time with some of our family and friends.  That’s what matters most anyway.

I hope your plans for the Christmas holiday are treasured with family and friends.

50 ain’t that bad

Happy 50 to me, happy 50 to me, happy 50 Dobegil, Happy 50 to me.

LOL – Sorry I couldn’t resist. My only concern is … is the warranty up?  I have a few part that could use replacing.

Another good day for a sunset

With the threat of a storm coming in, the clouds have started to make it’s way over the Sierras.  Hope you enjoy.

Just a little bit of a rant

We work at Lake Tahoe which has many pine trees and many dry pine needles everywhere.  The fire department has been doing controlled burns for the past week or two.  Unfortunately, yesterday, the controlled burn turned out of control, when two of the many tree trunks were on fire with the flames reaching the branches.

Considering how dry it has been up here, if left unattended, it could rage out of control real quick … just ask the victims of the Angora Fire in South Shore and the fire victims in Southern California.

Up here one is used to the controlled burns or as they like to call them, prescribed burns.  However, when the tree trunks were ablaze, there were several people that called 911 and were told not to worry, it’s a controlled burn.  There were several people trying to tell 911 that it was out of control and they wouldn’t believe the callers.

I can understand that during a controlled burn, many people call to report the smoke, etc.  but to not even listen to the people when they are telling them that the burn is out of control, is a bit rediculous.  And for the 911 dispatcher to be snotty to boot!  Excuse me, but there is something wrong with this picture.

Okay rant over … well, at least for now … nighty night ya’ll.
