High School football

The high school  we graduated from in Vegas is here playing against Douglas High in football.  Since the school is nearby, I wanted to go.  I mean it’s been over 30 years and I’ve not gone to our high school football game “with” hubby.  Well, dang, I didn’t go this time either.  Hubby’s still not up to it!  So I have to listen to what I can over the PA system at the school until the reports get out over the news.

I think it would have been fun to go to the game with hubby, especially on his meds!  Although he did make a good point, we would probably have gotten kicked out if he cheered the same cheers  he did in school!

Oh well, maybe next time.

Hope you all have a safe Labor Day Weekend.  Talk at ya’ll later.

How’s your driving?

I just heard from my cousin in the Monterey area.  They just bought a mini cooper and commented on how I would like to drive one based on my past driving history.  LOL, what could he possibly mean by that?  The fact that I drive 60-70 mph up and down a curvy highway to and from work?  Nah, can’t be that.

How about the fact that I used to race when I was in high school and would zoom in and out of cars on a busy street?  Nah, can’t be that.

Hmm, how about the time I drove up to the mountains outside of Vegas, hit black ice and landed in the snowbank?  Nah, that can’t be it.

Well, okay, maybe it’s a little of all of it.  Yes, I still drive way too fast.  I don’t want to be one of those old ladies that you can’t see their head over the steering wheel, driving really slow.  I should say I REFUSE to be one of those slow driving grandmas.  Only when the babies are in the car do I drive slow.  Reminds me of the line in the movie, “Rumor Has It”, when Jennifer’s character tells her dad that he drives so slow.  His comment back is that he only drives slow because she’s in the car.

I should take up racing.   My boss has a race car and hasn’t been racing lately.  I wonder if I can get them to sponsor me in the race car.  Hmm, something I may have to check into … wouldn’t that be a kick.  He races Legend Cars … they’d be about me size.  So, what do you think?

Any TobyMac fans out there?

I am becoming a TobyMac fan.  I enjoy the music and lyrics.  Hubby, on the other hand, isn’t quite so keen on it, but we have never seen eye to eye on music anyway!

While wandering through You Tube, I found this video.  I had to share it, because it would be something that could be done in our church.   Tell me what ya think.

Happy Birthday, Sweet Angel!

Today (8/21) is our youngest grand-daughter’s 2nd birthday.  With all that’s been going on this week, I haven’t had a chance to shop.  Tomorrow night will be my shopping night.  It will be fun wandering the stores.

Nurse Dobegil, as GH puts it, took care of the pain pump in hubby’s shoulder.  It is gone along with the tube that was in there giving his should a local anesthetic.  Now that it is out, he’s feeling the pain more.  Since this was the third day, he was able to take a shower.  It always feels so good to finally take a shower after surgery!

Hubby’s actually doing well.  I worked all day today and he hung out here on the couch with the animals.   He’s handling the stronger pain pills okay, he just has to remember not to move too fast!

Well, I am pooped, so I’m going to bed.  Ya’ll have a great night!

So what would you think?

While we were signing hubby in at the surgery center, she asked for his ID and Ins. cards.  While he leaned to the side to pull out his wallet, the front of his seat on the chair broke, then the back of his seat broke and down he went.  He was okay and the poor office person was mortified that the chair broke.  We didn’t think anything of it until he went to pre-op and had to get into his lovely gown.  As he was taking off his socks to put the booties on, his right ankle was turning black and blue.  Luckily we had a good hour to wait in pre-op and they put ice on his ankle to help the swelling.  Yup, this added to my apprehension but onward we went.

After surgery, the ankle was the least of his owies!

He’s doing good today.  I have to take the pain pump out of his shoulder tomorrow afternoon along with the dressing.  Wish me luck that it all comes out with no problem!

I think I’m going to work a half a day tomorrow and full days the rest of the week.  Paycheck will be too short if I take any more time off!  Dang, I wish I were independantly wealthy!

All I can say is daytime TV sucks!  Makes me glad I work all day!  Hope you all have a good night.

Now for recovery

Hubby’s home from surgery.  It took less than 2 hours, yay!  They were able to repair the tear and take off the bone spur arthoscopically, but even though they are small incissions, still doesn’t make it hurt any less.  I’m staying home today and tomorrow, since he cannot be alone for 24 hours.  After that I may work in the mornings while he’s sleeping.

So, I’ll be playing “Nurse Hatchet”  LOL, not really, okay, well, maybe … LOL

Day before

Here it is already the day before hubby’s shoulder surgery.  I’m a bit apprehensive.  I think it is due to his back surgery not relieving the pain and he’s getting the symtoms down his leg again.

The majority of the people who have had shoulder surgery said it’s a piece of cake, little down time, yadda yadda yadda!  There also are those that say, the surgeon didn’t take enough bone and it caused more tearing of the ligament & cartilage.  Then yesterday we saw a commercial for those sue happy lawyers about shoulder surgery and the pain pump used.  Yeah, I’m a bit more apprehensive now.

However, we have to be at the surgical center at 8:30am, surgery is at 9:30am.  A good thing that it is in the morning so the doc won’t be quite as tired as he would in the afternoon.

On a good note, Jackson, our grandson, had his cast taken off.  Our son said he walked with a limp the first few days, however, yesterday was the first time he walked normally.  LOL, poor guy was probably wondering why his leg was so light!  Sometimes it’s good to have those type of injuries whan you are only 20 months old.

Our son is training for the Market to Market Relay in Nebraska.  It starts out in downtown Omaha and they run to the Haymarket in Lincoln.  It’s an 8 person team and they split it up in legs.  It should be interesting.  This is going to be in the early part of October.  Then he’s going to try and run the marathon in Vegas.  Ever since the Marines, he’s become a runner.  I used to love to run around the track instead of do whatever it was the PE teach had planned.

Our oldest daughter starts teaching on Monday.  Wow, where did the summer go?

Our middle daughter … well, I have no idea what’s going on with her.  Last I heard, from my sis, was that she was going to apply in the lab at the police dept.

Not much else going on, just another stinkin hot day without a/c.   I should probably get hubby up so we can get ready for church, after we can get a $5 footlong sandwich at Subway and have lunch in the park and watch the ducks & geese.  Last week we didn’t notice the baby ducks in the rocks until they started chirping.

Have a great Sunday!  Hope you all had a good weekend so far!

Am I alone?

Filed under: General, Random Thoughts, Relationships, Scattered thoughts, Uncategorized — dobegil @ 8:15 pm

You know how marriages or relationships go through seasons?  You know, there are days when you want to bang your head at everything your special person says or does.  Then there are days when you cannot be close enough to that person?

I’ve recently come out of the season where everything hubby said or did,  just made me want to choke him!  I dreaded what he would do or say.  I knew I was in that season, because I was doing alot of sighing (to myself and in front of him).   Now that I’ve finally passed that stage, I find I miss him when we aren’t together and I enjoy being around him again.

I know you guys out there are saying, it’s hormones, so it’s all a woman thing.  But guys, do you ever feel that way when you are in a serious relationship?  Do you want to stick your head in the oven when your special someone drives you insane??  What do you do then?  Do you break it off?  Or, do you hang in until the craziness passes?

I know all relationships go through seasons.  However, it just all depends on how the parties survive the bad seasons of their togetherness.

I wonder if that’s why young people now days give up so easily on their relationships.  So, think of your parents or grandparents ones that have been together forever, do you have what it takes to wade through the muck of the storm all relationships go through?

Happy Birthday

It’s our oldest daughter’s birthday today (8/10).  She turned 30.  Wow, are we really that old?  She starts teaching kindergarten this year and we are so proud of her.  It will be challenging and rewarding as well as frustrating, however, we know she will do well!  So, Happy Birthday, Melissa, hope you had a really good day!

Co-ed Baby Shower

We had a family reunion 2 years ago.  Since we had 2 family members (Nephew and my son) who had wives expecting, we decided to have a joint co-ed baby shower, especially since we had extra family around.  This is my nephew’s first child and my son’s 2nd.  So I put together a canvas bag with items the dads need to change the newborn’s diapers.  Here’s the pic:

Too bad we didn’t have a video camera going, their comments were hilarious!!  Hope this made ya’ll laugh!

Have a great week!
