Why do I enjoy watching this show? Hubby and I were talking about it the other day. Gene and Shannon have raised their children with respect and caution about the world. Yes, he may be a bit over the top, but he makes it a point to be involved in his children’s lives, much to their shagrin. However, he is there for them. How many in this type of business don’t have that type of relationship with their children? This show makes me laugh out loud, because of things that happen to him.
Watching Shannon and her sister, Tracy, remind me of my sibling interactions. My Vegas sis and I used to take her little mazda onto a dirt road in the desert to see where it led. One day we were on a road that led us up a mountain, one side was a drop, the other the mountain. The road being too small to turn around, all we could do was keep going. Once we got to the end, there were trees, a picnic table and water flowing nearby. To this day, we have no idea where we were. It was just another fun adventure in the desert with the mazda.
My sisters and I would, not on purpose, do things to my KC sister’s husband. Our brother passed away and we were getting the preparations done for his service. Before my brother-in-law left us, he said to meet him back at my Vegas’ sis’ house at 11:30am. So we all did what we had to do and were back by 11:25am. We are sitting on the porch waiting and waiting, looking at our watch, the time was almost 11:45am. (This was before cell phones, so we couldn’t call him.) Finally, Vegas sis says, “I hope he can find my house, I took the house numbers off to paint.”
I say, ever so confident, “That’s okay, I told him the address is 1120.”
Vegas sis, “It’s not 1120, it’s 1150.”
Me, “Rut Roh, I’m in trouble,” and proceed to jump off the steps and ran toward 1120.
Sure enough, there he was in his rented “Lincoln Continental and his cop looking glasses” waiting and cussing at us for not being back.
I ran yelling, “It’s 1150.”
Which he looked at his watch and said, “No it’s not, it’s almost noon!”
Yuppers, something right out of an old comedy. Needless to say, I had him sitting out in front of a drug dealer’s house. Across the street was a house occupied by a “lady of the evening”. I’ve never seen anyone flip a U-turn so fast. In the meantime, he’s yelling at me saying I could have gotten him killed!! Then, he added, that it now explains all these people coming out of the houses to look at him!
My KC sis says she has never seen me move so fast when we realized he was sitting at the wrong house.
Mind you, this was not a planned thing, it just happened. I’ll have to tell you an actual joke we did play on this brother-in-law. LOL … however, I’ll save it for another post.

“rut roh” – *snicker*
