Our cat, Ginney

I walked into our room tonight and found this:

“Hit by a Truck Kitty” – She was lying on the floor in front of the fan.  She looked as hot as I felt.  Even though it looks like it, she is not pregnant, just fat!

Then I got this:

Attitude from a hot kitty!  I’m half tempted to shave her, so she isn’t so hot and she won’t shed so fast!  However, when I mention shaving her, she gives me a dirty look.

Sunday Outing

I meant to take pics of our first activity this morning … the shooting range.  However, I was so involved with shooting that I forgot all about taking pics.  The shooting range is just past the Animal Shelter on the way to the dump in Gardnerville.

Up the street from the Animal Shelter, the one hubby retired from, was the herd of wild horses that he always saw driving to and from work.   They had a baby with them, but they were too far away for my phone camera to pick up.  I took a pic on a regular camera, but I have to get it developed.  They had wandered into a yard through a wide open gate.   The house looked vacant, must be why they felt comfortable with going in.

Then we went to the store, picked up chicken strips and salad, went to Lampe Park for a picnic.  The table was next to this creek and these two were enjoying the water.

After the park, we took a drive through Genoa, NV.  A quaint little town at the foothills of the Eastern Sierras.  On the way, I saw a couple of cowboys moving the herd from one field to the other.  Those pics didn’t turn out because we were too far away.  However, I did get a pic of some other cattle.

On the road just outside of Genoa, we took pics of the Carson Valley.  These pics are looking east from the Sierra Foothills.

The atmosphere is still a bit hazy from the CA wildfires, however, not as bad as it has been.

All in all a pretty good outing,  Now home, we are ready for a nap!

Hope y’all had a great weekend!  Later.

P.S. I Love You

I watched this movie today and found it touching.  Yes, I know, it’s a chick flick, but it was also a fun movie.  Plus the fact that Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played Denny Duquette on Grey’s Anatomy was in it speaking with an Irish Accent, made it all the more yummier to watch.  LOL … did I just type that??  Dang, thought I  said that only in my head!  Well, I may be older, but I’m not dead!

McDreamy, McSteamy and McVet, move over boys, McDenny definately has it goin’ on!  *sigh*  Is it hot in here or is it me!?!?

Crying

Filed under: Entertainment, General, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, TV, Uncategorized — dobegil @ 9:18 pm

We watched last Sunday’s “In Plain Sight”.  At the end, the main character, Mary, cries.  Now she’s tough and has her work life together, while her personal life is not.  She’s one that doesn’t cry and doesn’t take a lot of crap from anyone … She actually reminds me of my middle daughter, should she decide to go in law enforcement.  Anywho, at the end she cries, because her male partner and only friend is shot.  At the hospital, she holds it together while she’s waiting with her male boss.  Until her sis and mom show up and Mary starts crying.  Bossman looks so uncomfortable and helpless at this point and so ends the episode.

I asked hubby why men are uncomfortable when women, especially tough women, cry?  His answer, “If there’s a fire, you put it out!  If the sink’s clogged, you unclog it!  When a woman cries, you can’t do anything to fix it, can’t stop it, can’t make the crying go away, can’t smother her …”

Wait a minute, did he say “SMOTHER”?  Why, yes, he did!  Nice of him to try and sneak that in, huh?

I know there are women out there that can turn the water works on at a drop of a hat.  I’m not talking about the type of crying to get her way.  I’m talking about the uncontrollable sobs, that the more she tries to control, the worse they get.

So, Men, what do you do or how do you feel when a woman cries/sobs?

Jibber Jabber

We had our standing monthly visit with our doc to check on the progress of our illnesses. (His lungs/my diabetes)  Hubby now has diabetes and has to start taking meds.  He’s not too thrilled about that, but we seem to do things together!!  LOL … I told the doc that when it’s time for us to go, we are going together!  Something like the way the uncles did in Second Hand Lions.  Hubby has to see an orthopedic specialist for their advice on his rotary cuff.  Doc’s guess is surgery, however, we will wait and see what the bone carpenter says.   Unfortunately, with the smoke from all the fires in Northern California, his asthma is really acting up.  I had to use my inhaler this morning, to help open my lungs, so I can only imagine how hubby feels.

My diabetes still isn’t under control.  With me being sick earlier this month, my blood sugars went wacky, so I have to get my diet under control.  It will be helpful, now that we both have to watch our diet.

We spent the rest of our doc visit, laughing and joking with our doctor.  We are going to try and find a box of black latex gloves and a box of camouflage latex gloves, for his exams.  LOL, I told you the doc is as twisted as we are!  But, I would so much rather have a funny twisted doc, than a no personality one that is only in the room for a minute or two.

When we got home, we watched the last 2 episodes of Gene Simmons Family Jewels.  OMG, I love this show, it makes me laugh so hard!  Then we watched one of the episodes of In Plain Sight.  I still have last Sunday’s on the DVR to watch.

As for work, I ended up getting another copy machine for work.  I’ve moved the old one to my desk, since it is also a scanner.  I’m going to have the computer guys hook it up to my computer so we can scan and email quotes and/or receipts to those that ask (which is getting to be more and more these days).  Plus the old machine can also double as a back up copy machine, the copies just spit out the back, because the rollers won’t roll it through the front.  LOL, oh well, what can I say.

Well, gonna get something cold, since it is so stinking hot in this house!  Hope you all stay cool in this heat wave and smoke free in the fires.  Later, Ya’ll.

A Parent’s sigh

Filed under: Family, General, Movies, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, Uncategorized — dobegil @ 9:10 pm

We’ve always told our children that once they become adults, whatever it is they decide to do is their decision.  We as parents have to take a back seat to the spouse and the family they create.  When such a union is compromised it is hard to sit back and watch.  We as parents can only voice our opinions however, it isn’t up to the parents how the situation is to be handled.  It is really up to the adult children on how they handle it.

For the past few months, I’ve been heavy hearted because of such a situation with one of my children and their family.  I have just received news tonight that they are going to salvage their marriage and try to work things out.  I cannot tell you how elated I am about this.  It’s a difficult situation, one hubby and I have personally been through.  I pray they are able to accomplish this and grow from the storm they’ve ridden out.

It is so difficult to live with someone 24/7, having to wake up next to them day in and day out.  I’m always reminded of one of the lines in the movie, “Yours, mine and ours” with Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda.  Henry’s character Frank Beardsley says: “It’s giving life that counts. Until you’re ready for it, all the rest is just a big fraud. All the crazy haircuts in the world won’t keep it turning. Life isn’t a love in, it’s the dishes and the orthodontist and the shoe repairman and… ground round instead of roast beef. And I’ll tell you something else: it isn’t going to a bed with a man that proves you’re in love with him; it’s getting up in the morning and facing the drab, miserable, wonderful everyday world with him that counts.”  So much truth in that quote!

I was just saying this weekend when we were at the cabin, that I miss my relationship with my daughter-in-law.  We used to talk all the time.  I am so happy for our grandchildren.

Praise you in the storm – Casting Crowns

We’re home

Filed under: General, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, Wanderings — dobegil @ 8:56 pm

We had a great time at Parchers Resort .  We fished most of yesterday along the creek.  Hubby had me  boulder hopping, unfortunately, I’m not as balanced as I used to be and almost landed in the water.  Hubby did land in the water, has a nice scratch and bump on the knee.  Other than getting eaten alive by the mosquitos, it was fun.  As soon as I get pics together, I’ll post them.

Well, time to get to bed, have an early day tomorrow.  Ya’ll have a great week!

Who in the heck is the “Key Operator”?

Filed under: General, Random Thoughts, Rantings, Scattered thoughts, Work — dobegil @ 6:48 pm

All the years I worked in an Escrow Office, whenever the copy machines broke down, it said to get your Key Operator.  Okay, who in the heck was that person?  And how did I become that person?

I was reminded of that today, when I got a bad paper jamb in the copy machine at work.  Thankfully, it didn’t say, get the Key Operator!  However, I still took the machine apart and piece by piece tugged at the paper that was wrapped several times around one of the rollers.  I confess, I had to ask one of the guys for help with the last bit because my fingers could no longer hold the needle nose tweezers to tug and pull at the remainder.  Once the last bit of paper was removed (which was a couple of hours later), I had to remember how to put the machine back together.   LOL … you know when you put something back together and take it apart because the door won’t shut, then you put it all together again and the dang door won’t shut, then you figure out what ya did wrong and the dang door still won’t shut?  I finally put it back together again, shut the door and it wouldn’t shut, so I counted to ten, slammed the door and lookie there it shut AND it worked!

The true test will be tomorrow, when the guys have to copy their tags and I have to copy my paperwork.  I was very close calling our office supply company and ordering a new one.  Who knows, I may have to do that tomorrow!  Keep your fingers crossed!

Rescreening -vs- sewing

Filed under: General, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, Work — dobegil @ 5:54 pm

Since the office was slow, I went out into the shop to learn how to rescreen.  I didn’t want to work the saw, so I asked the shop foreman to make the frame and teach me how to screen it.  He did and I really enjoyed myself.  Afterwards, I decided to tackle a wood screen door that required rescreening.  It is different from the metal frames as the groove for the rubber spline surrounds the opening, instead of being on one side of the opening.

I started on the smaller portion in case I screwed it up and had to start all over again.  The hardest part was getting the rubber spline in at a 90 degree angle instead of rolling it in on top.  I took my time and started to think of it as sewing, pulling the fabric and smoothing it out as I made the seam.  It took about an hour and 15 minutes to do the smaller section.  I now have the bigger section of this wood screen to finish tomorrow.

I have to say it was a workout, climbing up on the table so I could get at a better angle to use the pizza cutter like tool to roll the spline in and getting down to change directions, etc.  However, it was fun!  I hope it is slow again tomorrow afternoon, so I can finish the screen.

The office manager called me “butch” today.  She wasn’t being mean, it’s because if the guys can do it, then I’ll try and see if I can too!  LOL … I know, I am one of the guys, however, I still like to be girly too.   I know I cannot carry  shower door glass or be an actual glazier.  I’ll leave that job for the guys.  But at least, now I know I can rescreen a screen.  Maybe one day, I’ll tackle the saw …. LOL … Look out world, I’ve gotta a saw and PMS … Be afraid, be very afraid!
