Cruise

What are your thoughts of a cruise??

I would love to go on a cruise and pamper myself with visiting all the different places while sailing the seas.  It is dangerous to watch the travel channel.  I’m watching Great Cruises with Samantha Brown.   I will have to make my cruise a sister or offspring trip.  Hubby isn’t interested in cruising.   Too bad, but, one of these days, I’m a goin!

Alaska is definately a destination I’d like to go, as well as the Carribean.  Also cruising around the Hawaiian Islands … can you say … chaching!  Yeah, well, maybe in another lifetime!  I guess I can dream or play the lottery.  LOL

How’s your day going?

  • I worked for the navy (as a civilian) for 20 years. I have ridden so many navy ships that I have no desire to take a cruise. Another thing the Wife and I don’t enjoy is the formality of most cruises. Any vacation that requires you to take nice clothes just to eat dinner is not our type of vacation.

Having said this, it’s just my opinion and taking a cruise might be the perfect vacation for you.

We’ve been to Alaska - Beautiful place. We’ve been to Hawaii - Also beautiful (The roughest waters I ever rode a ship in was off of Hawaii).

  • HD, I can understand. I’m thinking about the new free style cruises. As their promo quote says, “… free to do whatever.”

I’ve been to Oahu in Hawaii and it is beautiful. Haven’t been to Alaska though. My sisters and I went to Singapore, Malaysia and Bangkok on a six week tour. It was great.

  • I’ve never been, but I’ve definitely heard some nice things about smaller cruises. If you’re not in desperate need of formal dinners and boats so big and fancy you never do anything off the boat (i.e. Vegas on the sea), small boats are more focused on off-shore activities and can get to more places.

Just my opinion… and maybe my own pet dream… :)

  • GH, I understand the small ship cruises to Alaska are nice, because they can get into the ports the big ones don’t.

Although, I’m not a big gambler, so I would want to get off the ship and explore the new places. Of course, relaxing reading a book on the deck, watching the ocean go by, sounds pretty good also.
