You did what?

Do opposites really attract?

I love my hubby, I really do, however, it is so much fun to just mess with him.

There are times he can be anal about things.  Tonight, I was watching a DVD in our room, since this player has a remote and I can access the gag reel.  I put the remotes back on his side, any which way they landed.  He immediately goes over and changes the order in which they sit.  Of course, I have that urge to mix them up again, so I turned them facing the wrong way.  Again, he immediately changes them to face his correct way.  At this point, I’m laughing, take the remotes, pretty much toss them wherever, and leave the room.  By the time I got back, they were again in his proper order, facing his correct way.  LOL  Gotta love him!

He’s the same with books/magazines and newspapers.  It makes him crazy if a book/magazine has a crease on the page.  He says the words get changed.  He cannot read the newspaper unless all sections are in order and folded!  There is no way I could make this stuff up!!   Did I know he was like that when I married him?  I don’t think so, it seems with age he’s changed.

Of course, I now have a germ fettish.  I have exceeded my daughters bathroom fear.  I actually took cleaning products with us to the hotel in Utah while there in March, so I could clean the bathroom before we used it.  Was I like this before?  Nope, funny how we change as we age.

How have you changed as you got older?

Another Movie

We just watched “Lars and the Real Girl”.  I had read a post about it from a fellow blogger and couldn’t wait to see it.  He was right about how accepting everyone in town was of Lar’s new gal.  It was interesting to see how his delusional mind worked and how he coped.  It’s kinda slow, however, thought provoking.

How would you treat someone at church if they showed up with a fake companion?  As quoted in the movie, “What would Jesus do?”  Could you be as accepting as most of these people in this small little town?  Mind you he did get his share of looks and snickers, but it was interesting.

I saw the previews to “Music Within”.  That looked like another good movie.  Now I have to add it to my list.

Hope you all are having a good weekend!

Senior moments

Now that hubby is not working full time and I come home to veg, we are finding that our total recall is extremely lacking.  To fight this process, we have been doing crossword puzzles.  These are easy crossword puzzles, but, they still force the brain to think and process the clue.

In addition to this, we have been playing the piano.  Hubby is learning to associate the note with the key on the piano and I’m having to relearn how to read both the right and left hands on the music.  My memory of reading music is hidden somewhere in the folds of my brain.  I don’t sit at the piano everyday, however, when I do, I find my fingers are not as stiff as when I’m a couch potato.

What is your secret to using your brain and keep from losing it’s function?

“Love isn’t blind, it’s retarded!”   Yes, I am addicted to Two and a half Men reruns!  I just heard this line and looking back over my life, there are times I would have to agree!  How about you?

All Okay

Where did this week go?  We arrived home safe and sound.  Cat was still alive and the house still standing.  The only thing I can think of is that we weren’t supposed to be on the busy road for the holiday.  Which was fine by me, other than a few cars, we were the only ones on the road.

We did see the 4th Indiana Jones movie on Monday.  GH, I have to agree with you, it was a fun movie!!  Hubby’s and my inner child as well as the outer child were grinning when we left. It was a great way to end the 3 day weekend.  The rest of the week I’ve been to work and home to bed.  LOL, such excitement!!

Hubby has to get an MRI on his shoulder.  Once the results are in we will know what the pain is there.  The doc has his suspicions, however, we will wait and see.  Did I mention I don’t wait very well?  I flunked waiting in Kindergarten, along with paper cutting!

Today sucked and I’d rant about it, however, it isn’t worth it!  I work for an absolute moron and he will never change, so I just have to live with it or get another job.  Right now, with our health and finances, I guess I have to live with it, but it sucks the big dog!   Aren’t you glad I shared?!?!?   *SIGH*

Well, I’m gonna take my frustrated self, have dinner, take my meds and go to bed.  Hope ya’ll have a good evening!

Vegas, Baby!

Filed under: Family, General, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, Uncategorized — dobegil @ 12:09 pm

Hubby hate’s that saying!  But, we are in Vegas for the weekend.  Yesterday was hubby’s surprise B-day party.   Of course my family was there, since most of them live there, our oldest daughter, grandbabies and her grandma made the quick trip from Salt Lake, a couple of our high school classmates and hubby’s younger brother and family.  It was great seeing everyone, but never enough of yourself to visit with everyone.

So here it is the day after, since we aren’t drinkers we don’t have a hangover.  Funny thing happened in the shower though … get your minds outta the gutter … I had a strong urgent feeling to go home.  It’s one of those nagging feelings that I can’t ignore, because it keeps getting louder and stronger.  We aren’t supposed to leave until tomorrow, however, something is pulling me to get on the road home today.  SSOO … that’s what we are going to do.  The bad thing about leaving early, is I won’t be able to see my daughter when she gets back into town.  However, I have talked to her and she knows me and my feelings and understands.

The crazy thing is that we could get home and all is fine.  The only one home is the cat and unless she partied too much while the dog, hubby and I have been gone, she should be fine also.  Then I think, I’m being told to go home now to keep from being on the road with everyone returning from their 3-day weekend and all the crazy road rage.  But, whatever this pull is, I may never know, but it’s something that doesn’t want me to ignore, since it keeps getting heavier and heavier.

When you get an strong urge to do something that you don’t want to do or are not ready to do … what do you do?   Ignore … Argue … Compromise … Surrender ?

The Chapman Family

My heart and prayers go out to the whole Steven Curtis Chapman Family for the tragic loss of their 5 year old daughter.  All the emotions they must be facing would be so unbearable, if it weren’t for their great faith in God.

Those of you who listen to Christian Music, know his songs.  Please keep them in your prayers for God’s strength and courage as they prepare for Maria’s Service.

Happy Birthday to you!

Filed under: Family, General, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, Uncategorized — dobegil @ 7:38 pm

Today is hubby’s 50th B-day!  We finished dinner, then went to Coldstone’s for ice cream.  Yeah, I know, such party animals we are!

I’m so glad the heat wave is over.  I keep hearing how it’s supposed to get colder later this week.  But, it is so nice to come home and the house isn’t sweltering.

I know, this is a short post, but I’m ready to crawl into bed and finish my vampire book!

Nighty night ya’ll!

Cruise

What are your thoughts of a cruise??

I would love to go on a cruise and pamper myself with visiting all the different places while sailing the seas.  It is dangerous to watch the travel channel.  I’m watching Great Cruises with Samantha Brown.   I will have to make my cruise a sister or offspring trip.  Hubby isn’t interested in cruising.   Too bad, but, one of these days, I’m a goin!

Alaska is definately a destination I’d like to go, as well as the Carribean.  Also cruising around the Hawaiian Islands … can you say … chaching!  Yeah, well, maybe in another lifetime!  I guess I can dream or play the lottery.  LOL

How’s your day going?

Another weekend has arrived

Filed under: General, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, Uncategorized — dobegil @ 4:53 am

All I have to say is YAY!!!!!!!!  Two whole days to do or not do what I want.  How bad am I?  I thought about getting up early … although 4:30am is a little too early, and go on a hike.  I was exhausted just thinking about it.  Plus I’m not sure I could get hubby awake to go before it got too hot.  It will be a heat wave this weekend.  The temps are supposed to be in the mid 90’s.  UGH!  Not good when one has no air conditioner.

We are going to Vegas over Memorial Day Weekend, talk about hot!  At least my sis has A/C and we won’t be wilted.  It cracks me up when people from the midwest say, “Oh, but it’s a dry heat.”  Yeah, I’m sorry, however, when the temp is around 105-115, you are still roasting.  When the sun hits the skin you can feel it start to bubble.  I actually have to look down to make sure it’s not.   The bad thing about midwest heat is the humidity.  When you are done with a shower, ready for work and walk outside you are soaked in the first 5 minutes, that bites!  However, the good thing, my skin had lots of moisture.  I would just think of it as a daily spa treatment/facial!

I passed the small field of sheep on my way home again tonight.  There was a little baby black sheep along the fence.  He or she was so cute, I wanted to stop the car and pet it!  It’s so wierd that this field is in the middle of town, surrounded by houses, an AM/PM and coming soon a Long’s Drugs and a Holiday Inn Express.  I hope this field stays and progress doesn’t force them to sell.  That is what worries me about all the ranches along Carson Valley.  If they start selling off the land, it will be nothing but houses and development.  It is so beautiful as it is with the fields, cattle, and the Sierra’s in the background.  Unfortunately, greed gets in the way.  The ranchers die off and the ones who inherit the land don’t want to be ranchers and would rather sell it for the money.  I would hate the drive to work if all that land was developed.

I hope you all have a great weekend.  Hope the weather cooperates with whatever you plan to do.
