Life Lesson

Filed under: Family, General, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, Uncategorized — dobegil @ 2:49 pm

A member of my family is going through a rough patch right now.  This member had mentioned through all that is going on, a life lesson is being learned.  I thought that was a healthy way to look at one’s situation.

Life teaches us these lessons, unfortunately, during the lesson, we are scraped, brused, bloodied, to the point of broken.  Instead of looking at the “why” this is happening to us, a better way to look at it is, what am I learning from this?

What are your life lessons you’ve had to learn through the school of hard knocks?

Big Mistake!

Filed under: General, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, Uncategorized — dobegil @ 8:50 pm

I probably should have left the office alone.  Right now one can barely walk in.  I’ve managed to get rid of several boxes, however, it’s a disaster area.  I didn’t do anything today as my hip is giving me fits from Saturday’s sitting in one place as well as getting up and down to shred, etc.  I have alot of crappola!  I’ve shredded really old papers and I still have more to go.  My shredder has conked out on me a couple of times due to overheating.  Of course, I don’t feel like the lone rangette, since my sis spent 8 hours shredding, one day, at still has more to do.  I definately know how she feels.  Hopefully, I’ll have this room pulled together by next weekend.

It looked really nice outside.  We have not ventered anywhere.  Now it is Sunday night and time to go to bed for the start of a new week.  Such a life I lead.

Here’s hoping you all have a great week.  I’m not sure what ours will bring.

To do or Not to do

Filed under: General, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, TV, Uncategorized — dobegil @ 10:08 am

I’m watching a vampire movie and Cristian de la Fuente is in it.  Since he’s presently on Dancing with the Stars, I am familiar with him, but I didn’t know who he was.  Why am I watching a vampire movie?  I have no idea.

It will be interesting to see the remaining stars dance on Monday.  I must admit, I’m becoming a fan of Jason Taylor.  I’ll have to watch him play football now … that is if he plays next year.

It is blue sky today and we are going to stay home again this weekend.  I still have a pesky cough and hubby’s still not feeling better.  It’s probably a good thing that we are staying in this weekend.  I need to get this office together.   I’m getting a piano next weekend from the office manager and her husband, co-owner of the company I work for.  If I don’t get this room together, then it will go in my entry foyer, since we hardly use the front door.  However, it would be nice to have it in this room.

We will probably remain in this house for another few months.  I’m not sure either of us are prepared to move again.  But, we will see.  We still have to discuss it.  Moving is such a pain … LOL … litterally.

How much garbahge do you have in your house?  I’m talking about all the stuff that has been packed and moved and the boxes are in storage, the garage or in my case, lining up along the walls in this office.  I hate unpacking!  I hate packing … LOL … Hubby has been through all these boxes and tells me that I need to finish going through them to see what I want to keep or what can be thrown away or shredded.  I hate this job … LOL … it would be nice to just wiggle the nose and have everything packed/unpacked and decorated.  I have watched way too much TV growing up!  Yeah, I know, get a life!

So another weekend of hangin’ in the house.  I hope you all get out and enjoy the outdoors for me!  I’ll be body deep in boxes!  LOL

Another service song

I have heard this song for the past couple of days.  I will have to add it to my service songs.

I think of all my family that I have lost over the years when I hear this song.

Who knew?

I’ve been hearing about the Dove awards, Gospel/Christian music awards and wished I could have seen the show.  Driving home tonight, the DJ at Klove was telling us how to find out if you have the Gospel Music Channel.  So, curious me, came home and lookie here … I have it, Channel 338 on my Direct TV.  I’m pretty excited!   Yeah, I know, get a life!

Things that make you go … huh?

Filed under: Family, General, Health, Random Thoughts, Rantings, Scattered thoughts, Uncategorized — dobegil @ 12:41 pm

I heard about this from one of the guys I work with and had to rant.

His boy, goes to Eagle Valley Middle School in Carson City.  He was home for a couple of days with a cold.   My co-worker sent him to school yesterday, since he had no fever, eyes were clear, no runny nose, he had energy and he was eating.  All he had was the lingering cough, which likes to stay on and on (which I am still coughing with my garbahge).

Anyway, the school calls my co-worker and tells him that he has to pick up his boy.  They were sending him home because of the cough.  My co-worker explained that all he had was a cough, no fever, eyes clear, no runny nose, energy and appetite.  He was then told that he needed to take his boy to the doctor and if he didn’t it could be considered Child Abuse.  EXCUSE ME … CHILD ABUSE?!?!?!

So, my co-worker’s wife, takes him to the doctor.  Doc says he’s fine, he just has a cough from his cold and he is okay to go to school.  They obtained a written statement from the doc so this boy could go to school today.

In the school’s defense, I’m sure thy see alot of this stuff where children are sent to school when they are sick, HOWEVER, to make an accusation of possible child abuse when the child looks fine, except for a stinking cough … that is uncalled for.  If it was my child, I’d be standing on someone’s desk right now, of course, that’s just me!

Ocean Sewer – WTF?

Seamonster wrote an interesting post, check it out here .  With yesterday being Earth Day and all the EMPHASIS on going green, I think we all should write to the person in Florida on her post and find out WTF they are thinking.  If California is doing the same, a state that is supposedly so environmentally aware, we should let them know what we think!  And we thought it was just oil spills killing the marine life!  OMG, how discusting!

What do you think?

To all my friends in the blog world

I came across this song and I dedicate it to all of my blogsphere friends.  You all are in my prayers because I care about each and every one of you.   One of the reasons I like the group Casting Crowns, is because they have a way of saying what needs to be said.

What songs would you want played at your Service?

I know this is a bit morbid, however, I have been thinking alot about what songs I want played at my funeral/memorial service.  I’ve been trying to decide between cremation or burial.  If cremated, I’d want my ashes scattered in the ocean, in lake tahoe and at red rock canyon.  If buried, I’m not sure where I’d want my remains to lay.  I know I want my services to be at my present church, Carson Valley Christian Center.

I’m not planning on going anywhere anytime soon, however, one never knows when He will call us home.  So I’m trying to write my wishes for my service and hope my remaining family will carry them out.

I have a list of songs that I want played for the service.  These two are my favorites.  What do you think?

Weekend roundup

Filed under: Family, General, Health, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, TV, Wanderings — dobegil @ 10:58 am

We are staying home all weekend to heal.  I’ve watched the NCIS marathon on USA all day yesterday.  Other than a prescription refill pickup, I haven’t gone anywhere.

The weather was calling for snow, however, today it is blue sky and sunny.  The wind last night was horrible, I’m afraid to go outside to see if there is any damage.  I’m sure if there was any, the HOA police would have been knocking on our door.

My Vegas sis is planning a trip in June to Bishop, CA and has invited us along.  Since it isn’t far from our area, we probably will go.  It will give us an excuse to get in shape so we can hike, fish and horseback ride.  Unfortunately, with the rods in hubby’s back, he has to skip the horseback riding.  Hubby and I need to explore more around us.  We live in a perfect location to visit the beauty that surrounds us in CA and NV.  Now that he is home on the weekends, we will have to force ourselves to get out!

Hope you all are having a great weekend and the weather is cooperating where you are.  Our weather doesn’t stabilize until after Memorial Day.  So we will have a variety of weather until then.  Welcome to the Sierra Mountains!
