Yup, I’m sick again!

Filed under: Family, General, Health, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, Uncategorized — dobegil @ 5:02 pm

I stayed home from work today because I woke up with my throat on fire and my left ear feeling packed.  My doc was able to squeeze me in around 1:50pm.  I had a fever, my ears, nose and throat were pretty bad and my lungs weren’t working as well as they should.  Hmmm … sound like hubby!  So I’m on stronger antibiotics and I’m hoping it will get rid of this nasty bug or bugs!   Makes me wonder if there is a connection between hubby’s work and his illness.

Thanksgiving day and Black Friday I helped at the animal shelter.  While cleaning the cat room, between the cat box, dander and the cleaner they have to use, I could not breathe.  I had to take 3 hits on my inhaler, just to get a small amount of air through my lungs!  They definately need to use masks while doing this job!  Next time, I will remember to bring a mask!

Ssooo, I’m guessing that’s why I’m sick again.  Especially since my lungs are a bit tight and the air is not flowing like it should.

Anyways, hubby, God love him, asked if I wanted him to take me to the doctor.  Not wanting to sound needy and babyish, I kept telling him no.  However, deep down, I did want him to take me to the doctor and take care of me … how bad am I?!?  NO, he didn’t go to the doc with me because I told him I would be okay.   Sometimes I forget that he wants to feel needed and be the caretaker.  It’s funny how I try to be so self-sufficient when deep down, I just want to be taken care of.  Then when I’m being taken care of, like during my surgery recovery, I want to be left alone to be self-sufficient.  Geesh, no wonder the female species have the male species totally confused!  Can we just make up our mind????   The answer is, NO … but that’s what makes us females interesting to the male species!   HAHAHAHAHA!

I don’t remember if this is an actual book or if I just made one for my nephew, the outside of the book had a title similiar to this:  “All you need to know about women”  The inside pages of the book were blank!  Knowing me, it was something I made, because I am twisted like that, however, if it really is a book, then I am glad I’m not the only twisted one on this planet!

Congrats Helio & Julianne!!

This was the best freestyle dance on Monday night:

They did this same dance last night.  Last night’s quick step wasn’t on youtube, however, they were still so full of energy …

I was happy to see Helio & Julianne win the competition last night.  Granted a woman hasn’t won yet, however, Helio did a great job for being a novice.  Also congrats to Mel B and Marie for making the finals.  That in itself is an accomplishment.

It takes so much courage to do something like that.  To work your butt off through the pain in your feet/body/knees and come out and perform for a crowd, then hear what the judges think.   Could you do it???

If I could lose as much weight as everyone did, I would try.  I’d have to hide my face as the scores were given, then I would need a major encouragement talk after to make it to the next week, provided I made it to the next week.  But alas, I’m not famous and not a star, so I guess I don’t have to worry about it!

Dancing with the Stars Finale

Who will be the winner??  I am so tired right now, but I want to try and stay up to watch so I can vote … LOL … yes, I know, get a life!  I’m so impressed by all the weight everyone has lost on that show.  I saw an infomercial for a workout tape that included dancing moves to get your core body in shape along with the rest of the body.  Since I really wasn’t paying attention, I couldn’t find it on the internet.  Now I need to figure out which channel I was watching to see if I can get the name and order it!   So if any of you see that commercial, let me know the website!  I know Len, one of the Dancing Judges, was on the infomercial, but that’s about all I remember.

I was so revved up about the start of football season.  Do you know, I have not watched any college or pro games?!  So much for my football revving engines!  I don’t even know who is in what place!  Funny thing is that everyone at work hasn’t even talked about football.  Usually by now we have all kinds of heated debates and ribbing!

We ate at a casino tonight … no, I’ve not had my fill of casino food.  It’s quick, inexpensive and since we got there for the early bird dinners, we also receive shrimp cocktail and a scoop of ice cream in addition to our salad and entree.  We only have 6 more months and hubby will be eligable for the senior discount … LOL … I can’t wait!  It’s more like 13 months for me, since my birthday isn’t until December.   There are only a few significant times in our lives that one has to look forward to … let me explain … 16 – driver’s license; 18 – considered an adult & one can vote; 21 – can legally have liquor & gamble; 25 – car insurance rates go down; then ???  NOTHING until 50 – become a member of AARP and most places will give you senior discounts at 50!  No, I can’t wait, yes, I know … get a life!

So how was everyone’s Monday?  I felt like I had a turkey hangover … I started running out of steam around 1pm … I sssoooo wanted a nap!

Holiday over, it’s back to work time

Filed under: Family, Food, General, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, Uncategorized — dobegil @ 9:48 pm

Here it is Sunday evening and as usual the 4 days flew by!

Thanksgiving day, we were up early in the morning to go to the animal shelter to feed and clean the kennels.  Took us until noon.  So we made it to dinner at one of the casino buffets around 1:30 and just in time before the crowd!  Dinner was good and with it being a buffet, we ate way too much.  We needed a hand truck to roll us to the car.

Friday was another early morning as we had to feed and clean the kennels again.  This time we got an earlier start and finished around 11am.  Zoomed home to do the final touch up on the house and my sisters arrived around 3pm.

Saturday we spent the day shopping in Carson and Reno while hubby went to work.  My sisters and I ate so much Saturday, however, we did do a lot of walking.

Here it is Sunday… Hubby had to work again today and my sisters left at 7:30am.  I have done absolutely NOTHING today … well, except the proverbial laundry.  I’ve watched movies all day and I am more tired now than I have been over the last few days.

I had a great time hanging out with my sisters and my niece for 1 1/2 days.  Wish it could have been longer, but I am thankful for the short visit.  They want to have all the family in Vegas for Thanksgiving next year.  I hope we can make it and who knows, we may even be living there by then.  Hah … I wouldn’t hold my breath.  Our future is so unknown right now, I don’t even want to think about it!

I hope you all had a great holiday weekend.  It is a wonderful thing to realize you have so many things in your life to be thankful for.

It’s called Christmas, with a capital C!

Well, since Thanksgiving is over and tomorrow is “Black Friday” the major Christmas sale shopping day of the year, I had to share this.  It was on one of my fellow arts ministry’s site and it cracked me up.  Now, if only I can remember the song.  Enjoy:

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

I wish you all a Very Happy Thanksgiving!  Enjoy your family and friends on this day!  Keep safe through your travels and be thankful for all the blessings in our life!

My blessings are my husband, my children, their spouses, our grandchildren and my sisters and their families.  We may all have our struggles, weaknesses, needs and frustrations, however, we all have each other and that is the greatest thing to be thankful for.

Enjoy your day and God Bless!

So, what do you have planned for Thanksgiving?

Filed under: Blessings, Family, Food, General, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, Uncategorized — dobegil @ 9:48 pm

Thanksgiving has arrived too quickly.  Soon it will be another year closer to 50.  I may have to go back to coloring my hair!  LOL … how vain am I?

We’ve decided to eat out on Thanksgiving.  You guessed it, a Casino Buffet … I cannot wait!  Friday my sisters drive up from Vegas, so we get to hang out for 2 days.  I am excited!

Hubby will be on-call for Thursday and Friday, then he has to work on Saturday and Sunday.  Poor guy, he’s not looking forward to the next couple of weeks.  However, we do have Thursday/Friday to hang out, unless he’s called in.

There isn’t much else going on, I’m just breezing through the week.  I’m really glad tomorrow is the last day of work for this week.   It will be nice to not have to go to work for 4 days.  I don’t really have any plans, just playing it by ear and see what my sisters want to do when they get here.

Ya’ll have a good night.  Write at ya later.

Where in the heck did that come from?

Filed under: Dreams, General, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, Uncategorized — dobegil @ 11:25 pm

I was jolted awake by a horrible dream!  What made it so horrible?  I was dreaming about an old boyfriend.  One that I fought constantly with all the while we were together.  It all seemed too real and I was so happy to wake up and find my hubby next to me!   Granted hubby and I went to high school together, however, we never dated in school, although, he did carry my books while walking me to the car.  I must admit, he still carries my books while walking to the car … lol … except now they are my bible and bible study binder.

So where do these dreams come from?  I thought this person was wiped out of my memory.  I guess that is not the case.  So it got me to thinking … what about the other guy I dated in school?  Well, he’s a doctor now … LOL … shoulda woulda coulda … LOL … no, we would not have survived if we stayed together.  Too much stuff goes on in the hospitals … don’t ya’ll watch Grey’s Anatomy???

I’m almost afraid to fall asleep tonight.  I’m not sure who my brain will bring into my mind tonight.  So, does that mean I have way too many skeletons in my closet?  Hmmm, something to think about.

So, how many skeletons do you have in your closet?  What would you do if one of them jumped out at you?  I would run like the wind!!!!   Then look for the oxygen tank!

Rough Day

Filed under: General, Music, Random Thoughts, Scattered thoughts, What I listen to — dobegil @ 10:41 pm

Today was a rough day.  Ever have one of those days when the everyday things just bug the heck out of you, which in turn makes you sneer at everything around you?  That was me today.  Unfortunately it affected my night with the kids at church.  I don’t feel I was there for them.  I did listen and tried to lead them through the lesson, but my heart was not in it.  I’m glad this day is over and this song keeps going through my mind – words to live by.
